Risk Communication and Community Engagement Coordinator At Save the Children

The Opportunity

The Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Coordinator in his/her capacity is responsible for providing leadership to ensure excellence and accurate health information sharing, adoption of protective behaviors by the affected people, and collaborative participation by all stakeholders, including of the local community structures and government.

The coordinator is responsible for supervising the Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) activities in close coordination with operation team. The post holder will contribute to identifying RCCE activities at the proposal stage, participating in RCCE working group meetings, and follow on the implementation and reporting of RCCE activities by operation teams. The Coordinator will also follow up on the implementation of weekly and monthly plans for the RCCE by supervising the work of community mobilisers. He/She will also lead on the liaison aspects of the RCCE work at the Country Office.

The function holder will also be responsible for the documentation of good practices including case studies and success stories.

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

Essential

  • Bachelor degree in Social Science and/or equivalent – with extensive experience in communication and advocacy.
  • Masters or post graduate degree in communications and media will be an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years of experience in undertaking advocacy, media and communication initiatives in humanitarian and development contexts.
  • Previous experience in communication and advocacy for behavioral change is an added value.
  • Proven track record of influencing with partners, government and civil societies/key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, to analyze complex information and offer creative, practical and effective solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and an ability to produce good quality documents, information for a variety of audiences and communicate good practices
  • Strong inter-organizational skill such as networking, negotiation and communication.
  • Willing and able to travel time to field offices to support field teams, as security permits
  • Fluency in Arabic
  • High level of fluency in English, both verbal and written, required.

Contract duration: 1-year renewable (National)
