HAITI – Response Team Leader At Save the Children

This position must be based in HAITI.

The Opportunity

Save the Children HAITI is hiring a Response Team Leader for the post-earthquake response. The position is based in Les Cayes, South Department and will manage Save the Children’s response programme and operations in the South region of Haiti. Working closely with and supported by the Program Implementation Director and the Senior Leadership Team, the Response Team Leader will assure high levels of political, social, and economic understanding of the local and regional context inform strategic direction, oversee continued emergency response and broader programme development, support appropriate needs assessment, and ensure strict adherence to humanitarian principles, SC policies and procedures, and donor regulations. The post holder will play a key role in the scale up and management of Save the Children programmes to increase impact and enable positive change for children.

Key areas of responsibility

* Jump start the country Humanitarian Fund implementation in collaboration with the Country Director and other relevant CO SMT members, particularly the Director of Operations.

* Analyse and assess data from a variety of sources – supporting ESMT to carry out rapid field assessments, technical data, early warning information, and other reports from NGOs, UN- to recommend appropriate humanitarian assistance response (Internal displaced sites, COVID-19 response and vaccination).

* Manage grants across the priority sectors, ensuring strict compliance of programme activities with Save the Children national and global policies and procedures and with relevant donor regulations and agreements, SPHERE guidelines and the NGO code of conduct.

* Ensure the preparation of timely programme and donor reports on project activities in compliance with internal Save the Children requirements and any relevant external donor requirements.

* Assess optimal safety and security management procedures and practices are in place for the emergency response programme and continually monitor the safety and security situation, adapting staff safety and security procedures accordingly in collaboration and cooperation with the Country Security Manager.

* Liaise with the Director of Operation, on the on-boarding of the new Partnership, humanitarian preparedness and response manager and ensure appropriate hand-over notes and plans are passed on to the SMT before the end of the mission.

* Identify and assess resource appropriate and effective structure & staffing needs for the Humanitarian Fund; In liaison with the HR Director and ensure appropriate staff well-being processes in place.

* Support the establishment of child safeguarding systems, promote a culture of keeping children safe, and ensure that potential harm to children (by our own staff and/or as a result of how we do our work) is identified and addressed on an ongoing basis. The post holder should report and respond to interventions as determined by position related responsibilities identified in the Child Safeguarding Policy.

* As part of the CO leadership team, represent Save the Children’s work in Haiti to donors and members of the humanitarian community.

* Regularly undertake high level representation and advocacy with local government partners and officials as well as donor representatives. Establish systems for communication with local government partners, relevant line departments and community representations in the project area(s).
