Under the general guidance of the Chief of Mission, the overall supervision of the Deputy Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Subregional Operations Coordinator, the Senior Project Assistant (operations supervisor), the incumbent will be responsible for supervising the operations and government/SCO strengthening activities under AVR, AVRR and Migrant Protection programs in El Salvador.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
· Monitor the implementation of AVR, AVRR and protection to vulnerable migrants operations in El Salvador in a timely manner, ensuring IOM procedures and guidelines are followed.
· Supervise operations staff members undertaking case management activities and giving feedback to staff members on their performance on a regular basis to ensure high quality work and the accurate completion of case management activities.
· Ensure the timely execution of the workplan of AVR, AVRR and protection to vulnerable migrants programs in El Salvador.
· Organize coordination meetings with governments counterparts, diplomatic missions and implementing partners to guarantee the effective implementation of the programs in El Salvador.
· Liaise with other units to ensure open communication and coordination with other related programs.
· Monitor the use of AVR, AVRR and Vulnerable Migrants programs budget in El Salvador in coordination with the Resources Management Officer and Program Manager.
· Participate in the recruitment process and supervision of AVR, AVRR and Vulnerable Migrants progams staff.
· In coordination with subregional operations coordinator, elaborate quarterly and monthly narrative and financial reports as well a weekly and other request of information, in coordination with the Reporting Officer.
· Prepare up-to-date information on AVR, AVRR and Vulnerable Migrants activities in El Salvador to assist the elaboration of communication materials, press notes and information enquiries in coordination with the Public Information Unit.
· Ensure a gender-bases and human rights approach in all operations.
· Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education and Experience
· University degree in Social Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
· Experience in project formulation, implementation and evaluation.
· Experience in humanitarian and AVR, AVRR programs for vulnerable migrants.
· Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities.
· Excellent computer skills – Word, Excel and Internet.
· with 4 years of relevant professional experience.
Skills
· Attention to detail and ability to organize
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure with minimum supervision
· Excellent writing and drafting skills
Languages
Fluency in Spanish and English (oral and written)
