Communications Specialist, Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) Activity At Tetra Tech

The USAID-funded Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) Activity in Sri Lanka, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev), is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified Communications Specialist candidates. This position will be located in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The CCA Activity enhances the adaptive capacities of the public and private sectors and local communities in Maldives and Sri Lanka to climate change impacts in ways that contribute to sustained, inclusive market-based growth. This five-year project seeks to identify and scale up innovative solutions to adaptively manage climate-related risks through market-driven private sector and community engagement; strengthen central and/or local governance to address climate-related risks; and improve availability and access to high-quality information for decision-making to reduce vulnerability to climate change in both countries. The CCA Activity is a 5-year USAID contract being implemented by Tetra Tech, and runs through July 2026.

The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing communications and outreach strategies to disseminate climate risk information and share findings of CCA Activity’s assessments and analyses with the private sector and prioritized vulnerable communities (in close collaboration with the Community Engagement and Social Inclusion Specialist). Supports USAID reporting, development of success stories, event planning, and social media management. This position reports to the DCOP/Sri Lanka.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

*In collaboration with the DCOP/Sri Lanka, design, implement and monitor a robust and flexible strategic communications campaign to strengthen utilization of climate change adaptation information for sustainable development and climate change adaptation initiatives for Sri Lanka;

*Coordinate CCA Activity communications, ensuring USAID branding and marking compliance, delivery of reports and other communication products in a timely and professional manner, and *production of lessons learned and success stories highlighting project impact;

Collaborate with the Communications Specialist/Maldives to seek opportunities for synergy and cross learning/training; and

*Provide significant contributions to CCA Activity project deliverable documents including but not limited to Startup and Preliminary Work Plan, Annual Work Plan, Weekly Updates, Quarterly Reports, Annual Reports and Activity Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Plan (AMELP.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a related field;

* Minimum five (5) years’ experience in marketing, communications and/or public awareness in Sri Lanka;

* Strong understanding of climate change adaptation policy. Experience with USAID or other donor-funded programming and reporting procedures preferred;

* Professional fluency in written and spoken English as well as Sinhalese/Tamil is required.
