MEAL Coordinator (national contract) At Save the Children

The Opportunity

The MEAL Coordinator is a central part of the SC Syria Response Office NWS_MEAL team to support the implementation of the MEAL system inside Syria through the field monitoring for programmes which are delivered by Syrian NGO partners. Position will report directly to MEAL manager and will be the focal point for all MEAL related activities inside North West Syria. Position holder will drive the implementation of the response MEAL system in coordination with the partners’ team, the sector programmes, and NWS MEAL officers; consolidating the SC data management system by utilizing data reported from the field monitor team across NWS for partner’s projects. S/he will manage NWS MEAL field monitoring team and will coordinate with the Syria Response MEAL team in order to ensure proper running of the MEAL system across the programme. The MEAL Coordinator will also support the implementation of activities for integrating a high level of beneficiary accountability across programme including the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for digitized data collection. S/he will generally coordinate with the NWS field monitor team, NWS MEAL officers, and programme teams to ensure monitoring, learning and accountability systems are working effectively across the programme.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • Education to BSc/BA/BEng level in Social Sciences, Information Management, Statistics or related field
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in line with the job requirements
  • Previous relevant experience such as data collection and analysis, software engineering, conducting surveys/assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability in community mobilization and community-level dialogue.
  • Advanced working knowledge with data management software/platforms (i.e. BI, SPSS) and MS Office applications (i.e. Word, advanced Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Strong communication (written and spoken), influencing, and interpersonal skills in English and Arabic, with experience in working with multicultural teams
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
  • Previous management experience; in particular with remote management and management of teams in NW of Syria is highly desirable
  • Previous experience working in humanitarian programmes and experience with institutional donors is highly desirable
  • Extensive experience in knowledge and database management is highly desirable

We offer a competitive package in the context of the sector at the pay-grade of the position, transportation allowance as per relevant internal policy and 20 days of annual leave per year.

Position holder will be based in Antakya/Hatay, therefore legal right to work in Turkey is necessary at the time of applicaton.
