Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will lead on Donors’ engagement and networking, designing the country office response, and together with the technical advisers, develop numerous high-value proposals for a range of institutional donors. The post holder will be expected to lead the coordination between technical and operational teams to map the needs and ensure that proposals are developed in good coordination and produced of high quality. The Business Development Manager will also ensure that programmes are developed using an integrated, cross-sectoral approach. In addition, the post holder is also expected to work closely with the Finance and Award teams to ensure that proposals, reports and projects are developed and implemented in compliance with donor requirements and also with the TAs and HR team to ensure Safeguarding is well considered and integrated in all our submission. In most circumstances, the post holder will be expected to mentor and/or capacity building existing country programme staff.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

Required

  • Master’s degree in Gender or Women Studies or Social Science, or any relevant subjects

Essential

  • Education to MSc/MA/MEng level in a relevant subject or equivalent field experience
  • Five-year experience of new business development and program design for humanitarian responses.
  • Experience of leading the preparation successful funding (narrative and budget) proposals and reports for donors, including Sida, UN agencies and OFDA and Save the Children members.
  • Solid experience in developing and coordinating consortium proposals.
  • Good understanding of donor compliance and SC reporting mechanisms and requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
  • Experience of representation and ability to represent SC effectively in external forums,
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy,
  • Innovative and creative problem solving skills,
  • English language fluency, both spoken and written
  • Commitment to and understanding of child rights, the aims and principles of SC, and humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the Code of Conduct. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
  • Commitment to and understanding of gender, non-discrimination and children’s participation.

Desirable

  • Experience or knowledge of working and living in South Sudan; Arabic language skills
  • Experience of communicating beneficiaries directly.

Contract Duration: One Year

Location: South Sudan, Juba Office.
