CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – Mobile Swabber (IDDS Project)

FHI 360/Philippines (www.fhi360.org) is in search of candidates for Mobile Swabber position to join the USAID-funded “Infectious Disease Detection and Surveillance” (IDDS) project in the Philippines. The position is based at the following areas Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna and Cebu.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Infectious Disease Detection and Surveillance (IDDS) is a project funded by the United Stated Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by FHI 360 in the Philippines. The Project will work in close coordination with the Department of Health, WHO and other implementing partners both at the national and regional level and local government units to facilitate functional specimen referral and transport systems to ensure COVID-19 specimens are properly referred and shipped to the designated COVID-19 laboratories in country or in the region as needed. IDDS will also facilitate seamless flow of logistics and delivery of laboratory supplies that are essential for rapid detection and response to COVID-19 virus and will aim to utilize efforts from current activities where applicable and build upon existing mechanism wherever feasible.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the IDDS Laboratory Specialist, the Mobile Swabber is tasked/expected to provide the following deliverables below:

· Coordinate closely with the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU), Provincial/ City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU/ CESU) and COVID-19 testing laboratories to facilitate collection and transport of COVID-19 specimens from specimen collection point to assigned COVID-19 testing laboratory;

· Assist the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU), Provincial/ City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU/ CESU) in conducting COVID-19 swabbing activities.

· Perform nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swab collection at the collection sites.

· Ensure proper triple-packaging of COVID-19 specimens and endorsement to concerned RESU/ PESU/ CESU /COVID-19 laboratories for testing.

· Upon the request and authorization of the RESU/PHO/PESU/CESU, perform rapid antigen test on NPS/OPS of suspected COVID-19 individuals following the established local testing algorithm including recording and reporting as required by the LGU.

· Assist in conduct of trainings on COVID-19 Specimen Collection, Handling, Packaging, and Transport.

· Pick-up specimen collection supplies from designated drop off zones and send these supplies to RESU/ PESU/ CESU and COVID-19 Swabbing Centers;

· Prepare and submit periodically required activity reports to IDDS Central Coordinator;

· Submit pertinent documents as required by IDDS admin-finance unit;

· Perform other ad hoc duties necessary in IDDS field implementation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Preferably licensed medical technologist or public health graduate with PRC certification to practice medical technology

· Previous work related to specimen collection of nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs is an advantage;

· With ample knowledge and skills in performing immunochromatography assay

· Previous work related to field implementation of relevant activities or other non-government projects;

· Experienced in working with the Department of Health (DOH) and its regional offices or Local Government Units (LGU);

· With strong knowledge and experience on infection control measures and biosafety and other health-related safety measures;

· Perform other field implementation-related activities that involves proper communication and coordination with different implementing partners;

· Facilitate properly and accordingly different communication and coordination activities with concerned DOH and attached agencies;

· Timely delivery of performance targets and with good attention to details regarding the jobs at hand;

· Good interpersonal communication skills.
