JOB PURPOSE

The Communications Associate will provide support in the execution of communications strategies of NP Philippines particularly in areas of visual design and product development, content creation and digital engagement, media relations and stakeholder management, and programme development. The role will contribute in increasing NP’s visibility to diverse audiences, maintaining organizational image and stakeholders’ relationships, supporting the fundraising strategies and promoting the overall country programmes in the Philippines. The Communications Associate will report directly to the Programme Development Manager on all matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Visual Design and Product Development

  • Lead in designing and editing knowledge products and promotional materials (i.e., brochures, flyers, banners, newsletters, photos, etc.) for a range of audiences and contexts in consultation with the programme team.
  • Liaise with graphic designers and other vendors to develop and produce materials.
  • Help ensure branding and style compliance, and represent NP Global Communications Policies and Guidelines across all materials.

Content Creation and Digital Engagement

  • Support in the sourcing out and preparation of creative contents (stories, images, videos, etc.) for submission to NP Global Communications Team.
  • Regularly monitor and share media articles relevant to NP Philippines’ mission and context.
  • Help in writing and editing letter correspondence and other communications copy (press releases, publications, social media posts) for distribution to external parties.

Media Relations and Stakeholder Management

  • Support in the development of an effective strategic communications plan, and determine the impact of the targeted strategies.
  • Update databases of partners and media lists.
  • Coordinate responses to incoming media inquiries, review of press releases, and relevant news coverage monitoring.

Programme Development

  • Contribute in the collection of data, preparation of interactive and graphic presentation of reports and information, and designing marketing pitch materials for donors and partners.
  • Participate in the concept/proposal creation as and when requested.

Duties applicable to all staff

  • Actively work towards the achievement of the goals and mandate of Nonviolent Peaceforce.
  • Abide by and work in accordance with Nonviolent Peaceforce values and principles.
  • Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, international relations/development, or a related field.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or other similar graphics editing softwares; presentation design and visual communications collateral creation is required.
  • Basic knowledge on photography is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of another language of value to the organization (such as Cebuano, Maguindanaon) is highly desired.

Skills

  • Proven skills in marketing communications, web content management, social media marketing or public relations is a plus.
  • Creative problem-solver with an eye for good design; on the cutting edge of emerging media trends and technologies.
  • Strong writing and copy-editing skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of political and ethical issues in assigned areas.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, including ability to juggle multiple tasks and respond rapidly to new events and competing priorities.
  • Able to work effectively with both international and national staff and coordinate with field teams from a distance and in a challenging communications environment.
