Promediation is a French-based NGO specialized in conflict prevention and mitigation. It is apolitical and acts based on the humanitarian principles of independence and neutrality. Promediation implements, since July 2019, projects aiming at supporting the stabilization in Sinjar District and expected to benefit its whole population. Our methodology is based on qualitative research and consultation activities, building up trustful relationships with local, national and international stakeholders and partners to facilitate dialogue initiatives and develop mutually agreed solutions for deconfliction.

Purpose

Promediation is looking for a Senior consultant to support the design and implementation of its project in support to stabilization in Sinjar district. Under the supervision of the Programme Manager and Promediation HQ, he will lead dialogue initiatives with national level authorities in Baghdad in close coordination with the organization’s activities in Sinjar and KRG. He will contribute to develop the organization’s network, analytical capacities and mediation activities based on regular contact with national and local level stakeholders and qualitative research.

Duties

• Lead consultation and dialogue initiatives with national level stakeholders.
• Closely coordinate with the team on Promediation’s activity in Ninewa governorate and KRG.
• With consideration to the evolution of the political context, identify relevant trends and new areas of focus adapted to the project’s objectives.
• Undertake drafting on products as directed by the Head of mission.
• Develop Promediation’s network among local and national level stakeholders.
• Contribute to internal and external briefings and presentations.

Experience & Skills

• At least five years of experience in conflict resolution, peacebuilding, journalism or a related field.
• Strong understanding of the context and dynamics related to the Sinjar district and Ninewa governorate.
• Strong network among national level authorities and stakeholders.
• Ability to build a relation of trust and confidence with interlocutors.
• Ability to work and travel in difficult and insecure environments.
• Fluency in Arabic and English, Kurdish is an asset.
