We have an exciting opportunity to join a team dedicated to implementing programmes aimed at building Resilient and Empowered Adolescents and Young people (READY). We implement READY because we believe in the power of young people and know that they should be central actors in the HIV and SRHR response. With your programme management skills, technical expertise in HIV/AIDS and SRHR, as well as a passion for putting things in order, you will help us deliver on our promise to never leave young people behind. If we sound like a team you would like to join – We are READY, are you?
This role provides project leadership for the READY+ 2.0 and Skills to Live projects which work across 4 southern African countries and forms the backbone of our contribution to the READY movement (Resilient, Empowered Adolescents and Young People).
You will take operational responsibility for key aspects of project delivery for designated projects including the development of costed partner work plans, monitoring and improving programme quality and fidelity to programme design, taking responsibility for the development of partner contracts. These programmes aim to design, develop and scale innovative practice that will have a clear impact on the HIV epidemic in line with our strategy.
The role will have ‘project manager’ responsibilities and be accountable for expenditure within their signing authority. You will take responsibility for working with partners to ensure high levels of quality in delivery including grant management, technical aspects, financial management, monitoring and evaluation and communication. You will be the first point of call for all project management issues with partners and be ready to trouble shoot and mitigate risks proactively with them. This may include close accompaniment and visits to the region. You will have delegated authority to take decisions that impact on project delivery and will be closely supported. Where appropriate, you may also be called on to support or lead other project delivery as part of a balanced portfolio of work.
Who we are
We’ve been on the frontline of the world’s response to HIV and AIDS for 25 years, working with marginalised people who are denied HIV prevention and treatment simply because of who they are and where they live.
Set up in 1993 to work with community groups in the countries most affected by the global AIDS epidemic, we’ve continually adapted our approach, looking for innovative ways to break down the barriers that marginalise people living with, or at risk of acquiring, HIV. All with one goal in mind – a future free from AIDS for everyone, everywhere.
Everything we do is rooted in our two key beliefs:
- That the lives of all human beings are of equal value.
- That everyone has the right to access the HIV information and services they need for a healthy life.
Today, we work with communities in more than 40 countries, taking local, national and global action on HIV, health and human rights.
As a global partnership that is open to everyone, we can only do what we do – and achieve what we want to achieve – by working with partners from grassroots community groups to national governments. Our partners drive change where it matters, shaking up the status quo and making a noise on issues the world often chooses to ignore.
Due to the continuing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the role will initially be based at home. As soon as the easing of restrictions allow, the successful applicant will be required to spend time working alongside their team as appropriate in our offices in Cape Town (South Africa). The successful applicant will therefore need to either hold, or be able to obtain, the right to work in South Africa.
