JOB SUMMARY
· Support operations by ensuring proper usage, regular maintenance and repairs of assigned vehicles for high performance and to undertake driving assignments within and outside assigned areas as required.
SCOPE OF MECHANICAL ROLE:
· Responsible for conducting physical repairs and maintenance of the entire fleet
· Diagnose malfunctions of and make mechanical repairs to a variety of vehicle
· equipment.
· Operate equipment used in repairing or servicing motorized equipment.
· Operate activities with other maintenance sections.
· Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
· Supervise the subordinates, drivers, to meet schedules and time lines.
· Maintain records and prepare reports.
· Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
· Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
· Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
· Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
· Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems
· Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
· Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
SCOPE OF Driver ROLE:
· Drive office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other supplies and equipment as directed by the supervisors;
· Log official trips, daily mileage, gas/fuel consumption, and assist with the annual vehicle inspection.
· Provide advice on procurement of spare parts and assist in getting quotations.
· Ensure that Islamic Relief Rules and Regulations steps required by rules and regulations are taken in cases of any involvement in accidents;
· . Any other tasks/duties assigned by the head of section and/or direct supervisor.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Key Working Relationships
· Performs mechanical works such as mechanical repair works, trouble shooting and preventive
· Assist in the recovery of broken-down vehicles
· Give technical guidance to other vehicle users to polish driving skills and ensure the safe use of the vehicles
· Ensure that vehicles are clean and have all the requisite safety gargets fire extinguishers, dusters, basic tools and equipment’s and also valid road worth certificates and insurance
KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanic/Driver
· Carry out routine maintenance of the vehicles
· Drive staff and visitors to , from and within the assigned locations as when required
· Maintain log books and report regularly to supervisor on the performace of the assigned vehicles
· Ensure that vehicles are clean and have all the requisite safety gargets fire extinguishers, dusters, basic tools and equipment’s and also valid road worth certificates and insurance
· Provide advice on procurement of spare parts and assist in getting quotations
PERSON SPECIFICATION ESSENTIAL
Skills
· Motor mechanic skills
· Familiarity with electro-mechanical equipment and controls Administrational skills
· Familiarity in operating mechanical tools/equipment used in maintenance of vehicles, grounds, trees management and motor pool
· Familiarity with electro-mechanical equipment and controls
· Driving skills
Qualifications
Motor Mechanic certificates.
High school secondary Certificate
Driving experience for at least 2 years,
Valid driving license
Additional experience
· Experience of working in Somalia
· Fluency in written Somali Language
