Humanitarian Specialist (maternity cover) At MS ActionAid Denmark

Are you a humanitarian by heart specialized in working with young people in the areas of protection and resilience in fragile contexts? Does it light your fire, if we say that you get to participate in developing ActionAid Denmark’s programming in fragile contexts?

You will lead on and uphold the highest humanitarian standards

You will contribute to quality assurance using your expertise and knowledge of sector standards such as CHS and SPHERE in our projects that follow ActionAid Denmark (AADK)’s approaches as well as AA’s Humanitarian Signature. Hereunder;

  • Maintain a strategic overview of issues affecting youth and adolescents, particularly young women, in humanitarian contexts, monitoring trends, and providing input to strategy, planning, and response processes
  • Lead on technical input on youth, displacement, protection, resilience, preparedness, disaster risk reduction, gender and diversity, resilience, accountability and localisation in programmes and strategies
  • Lead on tool and guidance development as needed on youth leadership
  • Proactively contribute to strategy development, programme policy, innovation, and learning at all levels of AADK programming while ensuring that all internal policies and relevant donor compliance are adhered to as well as assist in further development of internal policies
  • Coordinate technical input to and quality assurance in close collaboration with ActionAid members and other AADK colleagues and teams of project design, implementation and reporting on thematic areas as per competencies within protection, resilience, accountability, displacement, disaster risk reduction, cash-based programming and strategic service delivery and ensure technical alignment with strategic intent across the organisation.
  • Support ActionAid members and their local partners in implementing programs with a focus on youth
  • Develop and carry out virtual and face-to-face training and knowledge sharing activities in relation
  • Facilitate and support the representation of crises-affected youth in different national and international fora
  • Coordinate selected projects implemented by ActionAid members and their local partners including monitoring implementation and finance including disbursements of funds and reporting.
  • Provide input on AADK’s implementation of CHS compliance plans in close collaboration with AADK colleagues and teams as well as other sector standards.
  • Contribute to AADK fundraising communication, campaign and policy departments as needed.

Who are you?

  • You hold 5 years of experience from fragile countries.
  • You have relevant thematic experience with youth leadership and participation in fragile contexts as well as in one or more of the mentioned themes; protection, resilience, accountability, forced displacement, disaster risk reduction or cash programming.
  • You are self-motivated, and can push for action while understanding your own mandate and that of others.
  • You identify opportunities for the organization and its partners, lift quality, and seize these opportunities by strengthening leadership in others.
  • You can move fast and push implementation through in complex situations and contexts with due respect to partnership principles and context considerations.
  • You are fully proficient in English.
  • You have completed a relevant academic degree.

It is an advantage if you also have:

  • Strong project cycle management know-how and experience
  • You have knowledge of working with local civil society organisations and movements
  • You have experience working specifically with youth and their organisations in fragile contexts
  • You have experience with ECHO funding
  • Danish and French are both an advantage but not a requirement
