Global Fund for Children partners to build a world where all youth are safe, strong, and valued. We pursue this mission by investing in innovative, locally led organizations, helping them deepen their impact and build their capacity for social change. To further advance and protect the rights of children and youth, GFC supports its partners to engage in grassroots advocacy initiatives to effect policy change from the local level. Since our founding nearly 25 years ago, GFC has invested nearly $40 million in over 600 grassroots organization around the world. Our work advances the rights of children and youth across four focus areas: education; gender equity; youth empowerment; and freedom from violence and exploitation.

NETWORK ENGAGEMENT FACILITATOR PURPOSE

Global Fund for Children seeks an individual passionate about community building to join our team as a remote part-time short-term paid facilitator as we launch an online community platform on WeChangers for our locally led partners around the world. The platform is a new resource for partners to connect and learn, with greater access to opportunities for networking, training, funding, and advocacy.

Your role will be integral in launching and sustaining the online platform through an iterative design and learning process. You will help create engaging content and foster connection, including through online workshops. Your support will help create an online community that is meaningful, inclusive, and safe. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of GFC’s mission and vision.

GFC seeks an individual based in Mexico, Kenya, South Africa, or the UK, but will consider applications from outside those countries.

LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

The Network Engagement Facilitator will collaborate with the Program Manager for Advocacy and Movement Building and regional programs team members to develop, test, and implement network engagement strategies on a new online community platform for GFC’s community partners.

Learning objectives include:

· Deepen knowledge about online community building and network weaving

· Be part of a design process testing ideas and strategies with exposure to principles of human-centered design

· Learn about online safeguarding and digital security

· Practice emergent learning strategies to test and capture actionable insights

The Facilitator will also gain familiarity with areas such as trust-based philanthropy, grantmaking, and grassroots organizations around the world working for children’s rights.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Support the design, testing, and iterative implementation process

· Develop and update onboarding materials, including guide, graphics, and video(s)

· Coordinate launch events and new member orientations, including one-on-one support

· Regularly develop and post engaging content

· Co-create potential online courses and virtual workshops

· Identify and weave connections, relationships, and opportunities among members

· Support development of internal community management guide

· Support learning and evaluation process and documentation

· Develop data analytics tools to assess online community engagement metrics

· Create roadmap for online community and future activities

· Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

· Working proficiency in English required

· Working proficiency in Spanish and/or French desired

· Experience using online networking or community building platforms, including social media (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Mighty Networks, WeChangers, etc.)

· Some project management experience

· Strong interpersonal and inter-cultural skills and the ability to interact with individuals from different backgrounds

· Preferred interest or experience in digital storytelling, digital advocacy, and/or digital security

· Optional: Current enrollment in a relevant degree-seeking program at the undergraduate or graduate level, such as International Development, Political Science, Human Rights, Social Work, Social Entrepreneurship, or other related field

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

This is a paid part-time non-benefitted role to receive a monthly stipend based on statutory minimum wage requirements by location and based on skills/experience. The role requires a commitment of 10 hours per week over 6 months from early January until June 2022.
