Field Officers – Recency Study – 8 Positions At UCSF Global Programs for Research & Training

Background:

Global Programs for Research and Training is registered as an international NGO in Kenya, wholly owned and affiliated to the University of California San Francisco (UCSF)

Global Programs is seeking qualified Field Officers with prior experience in conducting a study. The study will be conducted in 40 Counties in Kenya. The positions are a one-year grant-funded contract based in one of the 40 counties for each selected Field Officer, supporting the surveillance activity in a cluster of counties respectively.

The Field Officers will report to the recency surveillance CQI advisor with a dotted line to the senior epidemiologist.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Attend the full study training to understand the purpose and intent of the study, as well as the plan for implementation.
  • Develop and/or revise study materials (SOPs, job aides, tool kits etc.)
  • Support ongoing training material improvement
  • Support recency surveillance implementation scale up field activities including trainings and site activations and horizontal scale up
  • Ensuring quality implementation and outputs from recency surveillance through participation in CQI visits and in resolution of CQI findings.
  • Ensure proper documentation of recency surveillance implementation and CQI activities in existing trackers and folders
  • Participate in planning for recency surveillance field activities including commodity management and packaging for sites
  • Liaison with and support for both national and county MOH and implementing partners for successful implementation of recency surveillance
  • Prepare progress reports and field visit reports
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

The selected Field Officers will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a social science or health-related field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of public health issues, specifically regarding HIV/AIDS.
  • Experience working with MOH facility
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in diverse teams.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft office
  • Ability to travel (at short notice) within the study counties for extended periods.
