The Opportunity

The Education MEAL Coordinator is accountable for all tasks related to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Accountability and Learning of the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) and Global Education for Education (GPE) grants in Syria and supporting MEAL teams across Syria Response Office (SRO). The Education MEAL Coordinator will be responsible to ensure that timely and accurate data are collected and analysed to inform the joint reports to be submitted to ECW and GPE, and provide technical support to Syria Partnership Programme (SPP).
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
The Education MEAL Coordinator is a central part of the SC Syria Response Office MEAL team to support the implementation of the overall response MEAL system for programmes which are delivered by ECW, GPE and other SRO partners.
The Education Meal Coordinator under this function will:
* The MEAL Coordinator is accountable for all tasks related to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Accountability and Learning ECW and GPE and other Education programs
* S/he will coordinate with the Sn. MEAL and Research Manager to ensure proper running of the MEAL system across ECW, GPE and other programmes.
* S/he will consolidate (in coordination with implementing partners) ECW / GPE partner data reporting and make sure they are aligned with donor requirements.
* S/he will report directly to Sn. MEAL and Research Manager and will provide support to implementing partners of SRO.
* In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Reports Indirect: Sn. Education Programme Manager

Budget Responsibilities: NA
Role Dimensions: Coordination with other colleagues of the PMU and MEAL staff of different Sub-grantees

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

QUALIFICATIONS
* Education to BSc/BA/BEng level in Social Sciences, Information Management, Statistics or related field
* Previous proven experience in Education and Child Protection programming
* Previous relevant experience such as data collection and analysis, and Power BI and ArcGIS
* Strong skills in excel and other data management software.
* Experience in developing, leading / coordinating research and assessments
* Fluent English and Arabic, both spoken and written.
* Demonstrated ability in community mobilisation and community-level dialogue.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills.
* Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
* The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
* Commitment to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
* Ability and willingness to work inside Syria for occasional visits.

Desirable
* Previous experience working in humanitarian programmes
* Experience with institutional donors ECW and GPE
* Extensive experience in knowledge and database management
