About Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH):
Polish Humanitarian Action’s (PAH) is an INGO with a mission to make the world a better place by promoting humanitarian values and alleviating human suffering caused by armed conflicts and natural disasters. We provide humanitarian aid in places where humanitarian crises occur. Our support reaches foremost the most vulnerable: women, children, elderly, disabled, refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). About PAH Yemen Mission:
PAH Yemen Mission has been established in July 2019. Since then PAH is working in Aden, Lahj, Al Dhala and Abiyan Governorate, providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities. Our current interventions respond to insufficient access to primary healthcare, and sexual and reproductive healthcare, food insecurity, epidemic outbreaks, including cholera and COVID-19, through life-saving Health and WASH interventions.
A new programme in Marib started from the needs assessment carried out in September 2021 and the initial project focuses on education in emergencies, child protection and WASH. We plan to expand to CCCM and health in future.
Purpose of the role:
Responsible for management of PAH’s new programme and operations in the Marib governorate, in accordance with PAH’s global and country programme strategy.
Main responsibilities:
- management and development of the PAH programme in Marib, including leading needs assessment and identifications of programme options, funding proposals preparation, oversight of the project implementation and networking with programme stakeholders;
- representation of PAH in area coordination fora, in meetings with Marib authorities and other relevant stakeholders;
- leadership and management of PAH’s team in Marib, ensuring implementation of appropriate HR procedures and setting up of the staff capacity-building and professional development system;
- security management in the area, ensuring adequate contingency plans, safety and security procedures are in place, regularly shared and updated, in cooperation with the Security Officer;
- management of the PAH office in Marib, ensuring appropriate implementation of financial, administrative, logistical and procurement systems and procedures in compliance with the organisation’s and donors’ policies;
- establishing the beneficiary complaints and feedback mechanisms and other systems of accountability to affected population’s;
- ensuring PAH’s visibility in the programme area.
What PAH requires:
- experience in leading and managing multisector humanitarian and recovery programmes (minimum 2 years) within difficult operating environments. Previous working experience in Yemen and in sectors of CCCM, Protection, Education, Health and WASH is an asset;
- proven experience in team management (at least 3 years);
- documented successes in applying for institutional and private funds;
- strong communication skills in culturally diverse environment;
- resourcefulness, initiative;
- ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- strong administrative and organizational skills;
- excellent presentation & communication skills;
- proficiency in written and spoken English. Good command of Arabic is an asset;
- good knowledge of Excel and Word;
- driving license.
