Save the Children International is currently recruiting for a Project Coordinator-Child Protection to be based in Rwamwanja. The Project Coordinator, will be responsible for managing the implementation of Child Protection Programme activities in Rwamwanja, mentoring and coaching staff and to represent and advocate for Save the Children’s work and organizational priorities in child protection with a wide range of external parties including Government (OPM), communities, donors during field visits, and other humanitarian agencies operating in the area. The incumbent will be expected to provide leadership and guidance to the project implementing team.

The Project Coordinator, will be reporting to the Team Leader, the Project Coordinator will be the principal representative of the project. S/he will be leading and will work within Save the Children’s field, structure with constant guidance from the Team leader, Head of CP and Child Rights, Technical Specialists and Emergency Response and Preparedness Manager.

H/She will coordinate with the PM for smooth leadership and management of the CP Awards in Rwamwanja. S/he will work with the PM in providing strategic and operational leadership to develop and implement successful programs. The Coordinator in collaboration with the PM will manage and guide the project team in Rwamwanja to ensure adherence to overall technical and programmatic quality in implementation, compliance with donor rules and regulations, and the timely submission of all deliverables, including annual work plans, performance monitoring plans, reports as required

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences or related field with experience in Child Protection programming,
  • Post graduate training in a related field will be of added advantage.
  • At least 4 years’ progressive experience in planning and implementation CP programmes targeting Children and Adolescents.
  • Experience of working with local partners and District Local Government in Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, or HIV/AIDS is an added advantage.
  • Experience of working with the Local Government, local partners and training in Child Protection with a focus on improving service delivery to Children.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
