Portfolio Management Traineeship At The Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund

Scope of the role

Responsible for supporting 1- the Country Manager in grant making, grant management, research, and communication within the team or 2- the Portfolio Management Unit Head in quality assurance of the unit management.

Principal accountabilities and ownership

  1. If supporting the Country Manager:
  2. Quality assurance: Responsible for supporting the Country Manager to end-to-end grants management and grant making. Detailed task description follows the GCERF process chart.
  3. Assisting with GCERF portfolios: Responsible for liaising with grantees in portfolios and supporting the Country Managers as requested (e.g., administrative support, travel, etc). Detailed task description follows the GCERF process chart.
  4. Research and Communications: Responsible for monitoring in-country developments, conducting research, attending, and reporting back on relevant events in Geneva, and coordinating preparation of internal and external communication updates on countries.
  5. If supporting the Portfolio Management Unit Head:
  6. Quality assurance: Supporting the Head of Portfolio Management Unit in ensuring quality assurance of the unit management and portfolios.
  7. Supporting portfolio coordination: Responsible for supporting the Portfolio Management Head in end-to-end grant coordination of GCERF global portfolio.

Research and Communications: Responsible for supporting the Head on diverse research and coordinating preparation of internal and external communication updates on countries or PMU team in general.

Knowledge/Experience/Qualifications

· Master’s degree in International Development, International Relations, Social Sciences, Peacebuilding, Conflict Transformation, or a related field

· Previous experience in working in an international organisation on supporting grant or project management (minimum 6 months) or local organisation (minimum 12 months)

· Previous experience in working in GCERF partner countries or in any developing countries

· Previous experience or demonstrated interest in the prevention of radicalisation to violent extremism will be an asset

Technical skills

· Knowledge and understanding of programme design and development, project cycle management, and financial budgeting and reporting

· Some knowledge of the socio-political environment and civil society organisations is an asset

· Experience of working alongside a wide range of grantees with skill and sensitivity, including community-based and grassroots organisations in an asset.

· Fluency in English and French is required

· Local language spoken in any of the GCERF partner country, or Russian, or Portuguese is an asset

Remuneration: stipend of CHF 3,500 per month is provided.
