The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with a contract duration of two years. At the end of the initial two-year contractual period, there are good prospects for conversion of the contract from a fixed-term to an open-ended employment contract. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany.
As Expert Research Coordination you are the interface between Welthungerhilfe and German as well as international science and research institutions. You will ensure good cooperation, strategic planning and implementation in Welthungerhilfe projects and make a significant contribution to intensifying institutional cooperation between Welthungerhilfe and applied research.
Your responsibilities
- You are the main technical contact person for the cooperation with science and research
- You will supervise the research collaboration “Urban Food Futures” in three African countries, together with our country offices on the ground, contributing research questions and design
- You will comment on research papers and prepare policy briefs
- You will oversee research questions and components in Welthungerhilfe projects and advise country offices regarding collaboration with research institutions, particularly in the area of applied research
- You will participate in project planning and the development of project proposals to ensure the quality of the projects
- You expand networking within the organization, to promote shared learning
- You research and bring relevant trends into Welthungerhilfe’s professional publications as well as into project work
- You represent Welthungerhilfe at events and in professional networks
Your profile
- A university or polytechnic degree in agricultural engineering or a relevant field, such as agriculture, socio-economics of agricultural development, or nutrition
- At least 5 years of professional experience, preferably related to development cooperation
- At least 3 years of research or project experience in non-European countries
- Profound knowledge in research areas
- Ability to network and think systemically as well as an agile way of working
- Ability to work in a team and willingness to work independently
- Willingness to travel on business for several weeks
- Excellent written and spoken German and English, French language skills are an advantage
