Summary
The Gender and Youth Activity (GAYA), Humanitarian Assistance Evidence Cycle (HAEC), and COVID 19 Evaluation (COVID) are Associate Awards (AAs) under the Implementer-Led Design, Evidence, Analysis and Learning (IDEAL) award. Led by Save the Children, IDEAL and AAs are funded by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) and aim to strengthen the capacity of BHA implementing partners to design and implement effective emergency and non-emergency food security programs. The Senior Advisor, Knowledge, Learning and Communications (KLC) will lead the strategic and programmatic knowledge management, learning and communications efforts for these AAs. This includes working with technical staff to develop and implement a KLC strategy for each AA, with activities such as audience mapping, development and socialization of knowledge products, and design and facilitation of learning activities. The role will also support both external and internal communications efforts for the AAs.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Knowledge Management, Communication, and Documentation (100%)
Provide knowledge management, communication, and documentation technical assistance to IDEAL and associate awards, as assigned. This is likely to include, but not limited to, the following activities/responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, development and implementation of KLC activities for assigned IDEAL Associate Awards including audience mapping, socialization, knowledge sharing and learning events, knowledge products and others
- Support Save the Children’s intentional learning and continuous improvement culture by contributing to strategies to monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of Associate Award communications efforts through activities such as after-action reviews, and documenting/ disseminating learning and assessments.
- Support the development of, and adherence to uniform standards, formats, and style guidance for Associate Award publications, materials, and presentations;
- Assess knowledge and learning needs and build effective, productive relationships with internal teams, consortium partners, implementing partners and donors to support KLC activities
- In coordination with partners, help develop KLC activities that reflect industry standards in adult learning, knowledge transfer and application.
- Lead the planning and production of e-learning courses, workshops, and learning event sessions, from concept note development to final activity design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Help identify and manage the work of consultants and vendors contracted to support special projects needs such as instructional design, translations, graphic design, and course design.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least five (5) years of relevant experience
- Proven experience in international development topics, including food security programming, program design, and resilience/disaster risk reduction.
- Proven team player, skilled in facilitating discussions and obtaining consensus across a broad range of stakeholders, including providing technical direction and guidance to other staff
- Experience in designing, developing and implementing strategic KLC plans, activities and products including website management, publication production, working with graphic designers and other vendors, event planning, design, and implementation, use of social media channels, adult learning and e-learning
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
- Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%
Preferred Qualifications
- Human-centered design skills
- Experience in international development and humanitarian topics such as food security, nutrition, program design and implementation and monitoring and evaluation
- Experience working in a developing country in international development or emergency programs
- Familiarity with US Government-funded projects, particularly USAID
- Experience in reviewing and ensuring that specific graphic design/branding guidelines are followed
- Knowledge of USAID marking and branding guidance, and/or experience overseeing knowledge management, learning and communications activities for a USAID-funded project
- Experience in a range of KLC tools such as Microsoft, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Miro or Mural
- Professional fluency in French and/or Spanish
