We want to strengthen the participation and commitment of the recipients of our aid and systematically use the knowledge and experience from our programmes.

To support our global work at the headquarters in Cologne, we are looking for a Protection Specialist (m/f/d).

As a Protection Specialist you will be part of the Quality, Evidence and Learning Department and promote the active implementation of international protection standards in our programmes and be responsible for the prevention and investigation of cases of sexualised violence and exploitation. Your work will be carried out in close cooperation with the project managers at the headquarters, our international project teams, advisors and partner organisations in our countries of operation and will also include travel to the project locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creation of a protection-specific concept to build expertise and implementation in our worldwide programme locations
  • Capacity building for the project teams and partner organisations in project applications and implementation of MI protection standards
  • Preparation of funding applications to international donors for protection-specific projects
  • Monitoring and support of the implementation of measures in the area of Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) at the headquarter and all MI locations
  • Building and strengthening capacities for the prevention, reporting and investigation of cases of sexualised violence and exploitation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed university studies in a subject relevant to the job
  • Very good knowledge in the area of Protection, Protection Mainstreaming, PSEA, Gender, Age & Inclusion
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in international humanitarian aid and/ or development cooperation in the fields of project management, MEAL and knowledge management as well as profound knowledge of international standards in humanitarian aid and development cooperation and of the requirements of international donors in these fields
  • Structured approach to work and excellent ability to formulate in writing
  • Experience in and enjoyment of imparting knowledge and ability to work with changing multicultural teams
  • Professional proficiency in English and German, further foreign language skills are an advantage
  • Fitness and willingness for travel to the tropics
  • Identification with our values as a catholic organisation
