Communications and programme support specialist | London (remote) | 2021 At Chemonics

Chemonics seeks a communications and programme support specialist to join the team implementing the Mobilising Institutional Capital Through Listed Product Structures’ (MOBILIST) programme, an FCDO-funded programme to mobilise large scale investment flows to emerging markets and developing countries [EMDCs] to achieve the SDGs. The MOBILIST programme will run from June 2021 to March 2026 and is based upon an overarching strategic objective to address the SDG finance gap by targeting institutional capital and listed markets.

The communications and programme support specialist will support the effective development and implementation of its communications strategy and related programme support activities. This individual will work alongside the Communications Specialist who will focus primarily on the development/implementation of the MOBILIST programme’s branding and communications strategies and policies.

The communications and programme support specialist will adhere to and act in accordance Chemonics’ professional code of ethics, “Living Our Values,” and will make the principles of the code a part of the program’s culture and operating procedures. S/he will uphold Chemonics’ safeguarding standards at all times and will promote a safeguarding culture among partners, beneficiaries, and staff. S/he will also foster and maintain good relationships with stakeholders, will disclose any affiliations that could be perceived as a conflict of interest, and will maintain confidentiality regarding program activities where appropriate. Responsibilities include:

  • Create and/or tailor content of communications products, including op-eds and articles, as well as talking points, for specific audience per client request. Likely to be ad-hoc at short (2-4 wks) notice, at least 3-6 time per year
  • Manage and administer MOBILIST’s communications channels, including social media and specifically sponsored content
  • Populate social media posts and coordinate Linkedin/Twitter engagement with partners and key stakeholders
  • Work in collaboration with the Communications Specialist to provide communications and events support and coordination as needed
  • Provide project management support to specific and defined communications and programme activities, ensuring a coordinated approach with the wider programme team as defined by the Team Leader
  • Review and action necessary steps in the MOBILIST Communications plan with guidance from the TL and in coordination with the Communications Specialist
  • Build on content from advocacy kit and target specific owners for outreach, relationship and partnership building
  • Coordinate relevant digital content such as infographics
  • Coordinate with MEL team to translate Learning Hub into communications outputs
  • Monitor communications/marketing performance and recommend adaptations to achieve target programme outcomes
  • Support the Team Leader and technical team in the drafting and development of project reports and deliverables including but not limited to quarterly reports, annual reports, milestone reports and work plans
  • Consistently follow FCDO regulations and Chemonics policies and quality management best practices
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Team Leader, or independently, which are consistent with this scope of work, and the general requirements of the programme

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, finance, international development, or related field required
  • Minimum five years’ experience in communications and knowledge management, including experience writing and producing reports, creating knowledge management strategies, and/or other technical knowledge management and communications products/strategies for a donor-funded project
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities required. Prior experience writing published articles and material is a strong plus
  • Basic understanding of development finance and relevant terminology helpful
  • Experience working with FCDO preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in field activities, including photography, interviewing, and reporting required
  • Digital experience, especially html and/or graphic design, considered useful
  • Strong PowerPoint skills
  • Previous experience in financial services sector helpful
  • Ability to work well under pressure, adhering to deadlines and with diverse teams across multiple geographic areas, while managing production schedules required
  • Knowledge and administration of social media sites
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Photoshop required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English required
