The Opportunity
As a senior member of the sector, the Education Advisor will be responsible for contributing towards strategic growth and development of the education sector of Save the Children. S/he will be responsible for overseeing technical aspects and quality of projects within Education Sector. S/he will also be instrumental in the areas of advocacy, representation in forums and networks and maintaining key stakeholder relations the government in particular. S/he will be supporting the Sector Director and the SMT in managing the sector. S/he will provide technical guidance and advice to various projects/programs within and outside education sector on selected areas and partners as requested.
As a technical person, The Advisor is also responsible for documenting and disseminating program learning at national level and advocating effective interventions for policy influence/change through networks/alliance. S/he will help Sector Director in facilitating Sector’s program planning, strategic development and explore funding opportunities. In addition, she/he will represent Education Sector at appropriate fora both in home and abroad. The incumbent will keep close liaison with education related ministries and development partners mainly for changing their policy and priorities. This position will require frequent field visits.
Qualifications and experience
- At least 7 years’ experience in the field of education program management or advisory capacity
- Experience in designing and conducting operation research/action research related to education, particularly in ECCD, primary education and basic education; and education related program planning, management and implementation as well as advocacy work.
- Advanced knowledge of early childhood care and development, primary education, basic education and inclusive education.
- Excellent knowledge of national ECD and Education stakeholder groups, including government education priorities and processes, institutions and networks.
- Excellent interpretation skills to guide the Education Team, Networking and coordination skills with relevant ministries, NGOs, UN Agencies,
- Excellent English writing, communication and presentation skills
- Team player, non-discriminatory and gender sensitive
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly in Excel
- Master’s Degree, preferably in Education/Social Science or related field
