Danish Red Cross (DRC) is looking for an experienced project coordinator with extensive knowledge on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support to lead the coordination and planning of a Nordic Conference on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Fragile and Humanitarian Settings. The starting date is as soon as possible and no later than 1 December 2021.
Based in the International Department of the Danish Red Cross, the project coordinator will work closely with DRC colleagues to ensure that the planning of the conference is progressing according to plan and is well-coordinated with the organising committee and all relevant stakeholders in the Nordic countries. The MHPSS coordinator will report to the Head of International Programmes with technical reporting lines to the DRC Senior MHPSS advisor and Matrix Coordinator, and Senior Policy Advisor.
Your tasks
The project coordinator will work in close collaboration with the DRC Senior MHPSS advisor and Matrix Coordinator, and Senior Policy Advisor, and the organizing committee (currently comprising Danish Red Cross, the IFRC PS Reference Centre, Save the Children Denmark, the MHPSS Collaborative, DIGNITY and War Child Sweden), with the overall responsibility of further developing the conference format, coordination of content, and the practical organization of the conference. The project coordinator will have the primary responsibility for coordination between the organizing organisations and with stakeholders and contributors:
· Following relevant/related policy developments and events on MHPSS in fragile contexts and humanitarian settings;
· Further development of conference concept note and background paper;
· Facilitation and coordination of conference work streams;
· Coordination of engagement with key stakeholders and contributors;
· Facilitation of coordination meetings with the organizing committee;
· Development of conference material;
· Liaising with the conference co-hosts, key stakeholders and contributors in coordination with organizing committee;
· All practical arrangements for the conference in coordination with organizing committee, including publications, venue, refreshments and travel arrangements;
· Coordinating reporting and development of follow-up activities and plans.
Your profile
We expect that you have a relevant master’s degree in a relevant field (public health, psychology, political science or similar) and documented experience with psychosocial interventions and coordination of multi-stakeholder processes and five years of relevant work experience as a minimum.
You have a strong understanding of mental health and psychosocial approaches and interventions, and can apply this in the further development of the conference concept, format, and material, as well as in the dialogue with different stakeholders. Your ability to work independently, structured as well as your solid planning and organisational skills make you autonomous and effective. At the same time, you are a strong facilitator, able to coordinate and mobilise across a variety of stakeholders from civil society, academia, and state representatives. Finally, it is important that you are a strong communicator verbally as well as in writing. Fluency in spoken and written English is a requirement, while good command of one or more Nordic language is an advantage.

The project coordinator will be employed by the Danish Red Cross, part of the world’s largest volunteer- based humanitarian network. Along with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and 192 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the Danish Red Cross is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The Danish Red Cross is a member and volunteer-based organization with 202 local branches in Denmark and more than 30.000 volunteers, and with international programmes in Africa, Asia and the MENA region. Danish Red Cross also hosts the IFRC Psychosocial Reference Centre that assists the Red Cross and Red Crescent network in facilitating MHPSS, to promote psychosocial wellbeing for affected groups, staff, and volunteers and to increase awareness of psychological reactions in times of crisis or social disruption.
We offer
The position is a 12-months project position. You will refer the Head of International Programmes. Salary and employment conditions will comply with Danish Red Cross’s collective bargain agreement with HK and AC and will be fixed depending on experience and qualifications. You will work out of the DRC HQ in Copenhagen. You must expect some travel and meeting activity and occasional work during the evenings or weekends.
