General objective of the position:
Computerizes, classifies, records, verifies and maintains numerical data for use in maintaining financial records.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
· Ensures the smooth day-to-day financial management of Turkey office through effective supervision and management of the finance/accounting team.
· Ensures that SAMS finance policies, procedures and systems.
· Collaborates with field, country and HQ offices to implement, improve and maintain financial management policies, systems, structures, and procedures.
· Oversee petty cash maintenance and bank register maintenance, ensuring all expenses are reasonable and appropriately authorized and recorded.
· Coordinates compiling of all project monthly financial reports for submission to the HQ office
· Ensures all financial documentation are adherent to SAMS’s standards and/or donor requirements.
· Assists project coordinators in ensuring compliance with field accounting policies and procedures, compliance with donor agreements and audit requirements.
· Plans and supervises work of the country finance staff
· Prepares country office budget vs. actual reports on monthly basis.
· Works closely with the Country Director and program managers to prepare and monitor the office and project budgets.
· Assist in facilitating any internal / external audits.
· Makes sure that financial records and backup documentation are ready for internal and external audits and works closely with external auditors to answer any inquiries.
· Review & reconcile physical cash to the cash book on a weekly basis
· Prepare weekly cash report & submit to the country director
· Prepare monthly financial reports related to all office operations
· Ensure payroll remittances are made each month on a timely basis.
THE CANDIDATE’S REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory Qualifications required
· University degree in Accountancy or Finance
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in Accountancy, Bookkeeping, Accounting, and Auditing Clerks, Bill and Account Collectors
· Desired 2 years’ experience in Accounting software: QuickBooks – Alamen – AFAK
Languages
· Fluency written and spoken in Arabic
· Intermediate written and spoken English
