IRW is currently recruiting for the position of ‘Compliance Analyst’ to join its dynamic Treasury team based in its offices in Birmingham, UK. IRW works in a variety of complex environments, including countries where non-state actors are operating, and/or which are subject to economic sanctions, financial crime laws, including money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations. The Finance & Corporate service division plays a key role in mitigating these risks and ensuring our systems are robust, up to date and effective.
The Compliance Analyst will be joining IRW’s Treasury team and will play a vital role in leading IRW’s implementation of its Financial Crime policies and in ensuring IRW continues to deliver programmes in some of the most challenging environments for aid delivery and reaching the most isolated and vulnerable.
The role will oversee the implementation of aid diversion, money laundering or counter-terrorism finance policies and Know Your Customer (‘KYC’) activities on behalf of the IRW operations in the UK providing assurance to senior management that the requirements of our regulators and donor agencies are being met. In addition, providing assurance that our business is conducted in accordance with IRW’s values and policies.
The postholder will support the deliverables of the treasury team. In particular, the role will involve processing and reporting upon screening for all third-party partnerships, cash beneficiaries and ad-hoc screening requests from various stakeholders.
Reporting forms the foundation of the treasury unit, the role will support the delivery of accurate and timely compliance reports.
The successful candidate must have or be:
- A degree in Accountancy/Finance
- Substantial years of experience in compliance vetting processes / KYC norms
- Experience of using compliance screening software
- Knowledge of AML legislation
- Knowledge of counter-terrorism due diligence legislation
- Basic to intermediate excel skills; experience in designing and modifying reports
- Strong written communication skills, able to prepare written procedures, reports and deliver internal presentations
- Verbal skills to communicate with all levels in an organisation and explain technical or complex compliance/financial aspects in a wide range of situations
- Good all-round business acumen and an understanding of finance
- Ability to work towards achieving key performance indicators and organisational strategy.
- Evidence of continuing professional development
