About the position and the assignments
Danish Red Cross is looking for an experienced health professional to provide technical support to our international health operations and to deliver the strategic technical leadership and oversight of our NCD policy work and portfolio.
You will be based at the Danish Red Cross HQ in the unit responsible for technical policies and support, but with frequent travels to the field. You will be a part of the Danish Red Cross Health matrix, under the coordination of the Health matrix coordinator, and will also work closely with colleagues at the Danish Red Cross HQ and Country Offices as well as with the International Federation of the Red Cross Red Crescent (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Operating National Societies’ (ONSs) staff and volunteers in the field.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Provide technical support and quality assurance of health aspects of programmes’ assessments, proposals, implementation, monitoring and reports to donors for NCD and other thematic health areas.
- Develop and/or revise and mainstream strategies, policies, guidelines, Standard Operational Procedures and tools for NCD and other thematic health areas.
- Keep an overview of the NCD portfolio and ensure strategic focus, growth and quality in NCD programming and implementation.
- Explore opportunities and provide technical support to coordination and development of current and new NCD partnerships with researchers, health practitioners and donors.
- Coordinate the mapping of capacity development needs within the NCD and prepare and implement capacity development plans and activities.
- Ensure NCDs protocol and other materials are available and followed in patient management provided through NCD programmes.
- Prepare and/or contribute to briefs, updates and presentations to the Danish Red Cross Board and management on NCD and other thematic health areas.
- Represent Danish Red Cross in relevant meetings, networks or fora according to the International Departments’ needs.
- Support the recruitment, briefings and debriefings of health delegates.
- Actively promote and contribute to an exchange within Danish Red Cross’ health matrix to ensure technical quality, innovative elements and systematic institutional learning from health interventions.
Your profile We are looking for a professional with at least seven years of international experience in health sector with humanitarian and development organisations. You have sound technical and strategy advisory skills within NCD and preferably other thematic health areas (e.g. health in emergency, epidemic preparedness and control). You have experience with project management and partnerships and working with public health systems and community engagement. You are interested in innovative approaches and solutions in addressing health sector challenges. You have excellent English language skills. French is considered an asset. You are a good communicator and a team player, but also structured, systematic and good at meeting deadlines. You are able to go on field missions including for emergency response. The position requires some flexibility and up to three months of travel.

The position is a full-time position – 37 working hours per week. Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with Danish Red Cross’s collective bargaining agreement with HK and AC with a salary level between DKK 42.800 and 47.200 depending on experience and qualifications, including allowances and pension. The position is placed at the Danish Red Cross Head Quarter on Blegdamsvej 27 in Copenhagen.
