The Opportunity
Save the Children implements the USAID funded Literate Village project. The Project goal is” All women and primary school aged children in targeted villages possess the necessary literacy skills for continuous learning and self-improvement”. Results: Quality of reading instruction for rural primary school aged children increased; and rural mothers’ ability to contribute to their children’s primary education increased. The Community Mobilization Specialist (CMS) oversees and provides national technical leadership to all the project interventions for community mobilization, awareness raising and capacity building of PNGOs, CDAs and local governing structures (Community Education Teams) on the communities` level. The CMS provides leadership to the project inception planning, design, capacity strengthening initiatives, and phase out planning. The CMS will also be responsible for ensuring that community structures, mechanisms and operations adhere to quality benchmarks and incorporate strong systems of accountability. The CMS will closely collaborate with LV HQ management and the technical and M&E team in the implementation of the component activities, and SCI country office technical advisors.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Minimum 10 years of experience in community development programs, preferred in the education sector.
- Education: BA is essential, and MA is preferable in relevant field.
- Previous experience in designing and implementing capacity building programs.
- Previous experience in designing and implementing awareness raising campaigns.
- Previous experience of training, providing coaching and technical assistance.
- Excellent training and communication skills
- Ability to provide reports and communicate in English.
Desirable
- Has Previous work experience with USAID education programs.
- Has knowledge of the education policies with a focus on community schools, challenges and context in local and national level Ability to meet ambitious deadlines with quality deliverables.
- Previous experience in development of analytical report and policy documents related to children, preferably experience with preparation of community-based situational analysis.
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of information combining quantitative and qualitative data.
- Ability to meet ambitious deadlines with quality deliverables.
