CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Assistant Communications and Reporting will assist in developing and implementing the organization’s internal and external communications content. In addition to providing day-to-day support to the HBCC project, the position holder will primarily be providing assistance to communications team in routine coordination with Government line Departments, implementing partners, INGOs/NGOs and other stakeholders. The position will assist the Director Policy, Advocacy, Communications and Government Liaison in drafting and disseminating correspondence letters, presentations, briefs, etc. to the stakeholders both in the public and private sector.
The position holder will be responsible for the development of quality communications products, including case studies, photo stories, blogs, internal and external reports, presentations, official correspondences, projects’ briefs, and social media posts, quarterly and annual reports. Furthermore, the position will ensure Save the Children’s visibility through print and publication material and developing visibility materials. S/he will also facilitate the process of designing and implementation of advocacy and campaign initiatives, and ensure compliance to Save the Children communication policy.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Strategic Planning of Communications
- Development and rolling out of communications across all channels for the organization.
- Brainstorming and developing creative tools for effective communication.
- Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of communications and advocacy strategy and plans for projects and field offices.
- Support the implementation of strategies that increase SC’s visibility to diverse audiences, expanding digital information sharing capacity, and contribute to strengthening internal communication systems.
- Assists in capturing and developing stories on project activities to be integrated into articles, press releases and other public information products, including where necessary photographic and video documentation.
- Assist the Director Policy, Advocacy, Communications and Government Liaison in drafting and disseminating correspondence letters, presentations, briefs, etc. to the stakeholders both in the public and private sector.
- Conducting the day-to-day internal and external communications and profiling initiatives of the organization.
- Ensuring the development, publication and promotion of organizational branding/visibility materials.
- Facilitate initiatives on advocacy and campaigning on child rights and other relevant thematic areas.
- Provide assistance on day to day basis for coordination with Government and relevant stakeholders for project and country specific initiatives
Technical Support to SC and Partner Organizations:
- Provide technical support to field staff, program teams and implementing partners for ensuring branding & reporting compliance as per organization/donor guidelines
- Provide technical support to field staff, program teams and implementing partners in developing high quality IEC material, profiling of their programmatic achievements
- Orientations of partner staff on SCI communication and visibility guidelines.
- Dissemination of Communication SOPs
- Facilitate the programs in designing and implementing advocacy and media campaigns.
- Coordinate with all relevant staff to gather their inputs in a timely manner.
Technical Support to SC’s ongoing projects and business development activities:
- Assist in project management and coordination with relevant partners and stakeholders
- Provide technical support in creating and publishing hygiene and behaviour change communication content.
- Contribute to brainstorming ideas and developing newsletters and other country specific publications, monitor social and print media coverage, and participate in development of proposals.
- Ensure new proposals are in-line with the respective funding agencies’ communication & branding policies.
- Liaise with graphic designers and other vendors to develop scripts, storyboards and produce communication materials including social cards, TVCs, PSAs, radio shows and video documentaries
- Ensure SC’s branding compliance, and represent Communication team policies and guidelines across all materials.
- Support Communications Team in creating, editing and posting creative content on Save the Children’s Twitter, Facebook and other Social Media platforms using translated technical content and program updates.
- Offer administrative support to the Communications Team in tracking products and materials according to deadlines.
- Maintain and update the SharePoint folders for communication and advocacy team.
- Assist the Advocacy & Communications Lead with official correspondences, reports & publications review, preparing briefs and presentations for government stakeholders.
- Attend seminars, conferences, meetings and represent Save the Children on various external and internal platforms, as & when needed.
- Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum requirement – Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Business Management, Social Sciences or any other relevant area of study.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential: Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and Urdu)
Desirable: One to two years of experience working as a communications professional for a non-profit, for-profit, or government agency; or related professional experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Basic Video Editing skills would be an added advantage and proficient in the use of Social Media (Facebook & Twitter)
