Know our team

Nutrition International promotes an evidence-based approach to advocacy, decision making, multi-sectoral country planning, and the setting of nutrition agendas. The Global Technical Services (GTS) Unit is Nutrition International’s Centre of Technical Excellence. The GTS Unit, based in Ottawa, leads on the quality assurance of and technical support to Nutrition International’s research and programs to influence and improve national and global policies and practice. Currently, Nutrition International (NI) is seeking applications for a Technical Advisor, Nutrition (Vitamin A Supplementation), Surveys and Evaluation to be based in Ottawa, Canada.

About you

You are someone with Postgraduate level degree in nutrition, epidemiology, health economics, decision analytics, statistics, or related field; PhD preferred. You have at least 5 years of demonstrated analytical experience and planning and implementing international nutrition and/or public health surveys. You have excellent project management skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate research methods and results into publishable manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals is desirable.

Fluency in English – both reading and writing – is essential; French is desirable.

Knowledge of other languages spoken in countries supported by Nutrition International is an asset.

About the role

The Technical Advisor’s primary responsibilities will be to ensure the smooth functioning of Nutrition International’s Vitamin A Supplementation (VAS) related surveys (specifically post-event coverage surveys), contribute to quality assurance of evaluations, data and reporting, and support survey implementation and related dissemination activities.

In this role you will be:

  • Creating post-event coverage surveys (PECS) and other VAS program evaluations: support PECS and other surveys or evaluations in countries supported by Nutrition International, as assigned by the supervisor
  • Managing the performance of contracts and deliverables
  • Representing Nutrition International at assigned technical meetings with collaborators; manage relations with, and steward key partners and stakeholders involved in assigned activities
  • Working closely with the Technical Advisor(TA) -VAS, and TA-Nutrition Surveillance Systems, Nutrition International Regional and Country teams to provide technical advisory inputs, and/or quality assurance of surveys, monitoring and reporting as required.
