ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Information Security Analyst is primarily responsible for performing day-to-day administrative and technical duties associated with Internews’ Cybersecurity strategic plan. The role is highly collaborative in nature and will work closely with all roles across Technology Solutions and Services (TSS), as well as business operations and program staff throughout Internews’ global operations. This role is cross-functional and supports multiple programs around the globe.
LOGISTICS
This remote-first role will be based in the United Kingdom, France, Mali or Liberia and will coordinate with colleagues in the United States and around the world. Expected core working hours are Monday through Friday, from roughly 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (depending upon location), with at least 1 hour of overlap daily with the US Pacific time zone (UTC -7/-8). You must have work authorization in your location that does not require sponsorship from Internews.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:
- Identify gaps and work with teams to develop solutions in line with Internews’ information security policies and implementation principles.
- Conduct and support security awareness training as needed for staff and partners.
- Monitors Internews threat protection systems on a daily basis and takes mitigation steps as appropriate. Examples:
- Review daily security alerts and mitigate or escalate as needed
- Review impossible logins and logins from sensitive countries
- Review suspected phishing attempts and quarantined emails
- Conduct regular security-related webinars and trainings
- SPWF onboardings for Europe/Africa/MENA/Asia
- PGP Training
- OME/Secure filesharing
- Incident handling and reporting for lost and stolen devices.
- Serve as the information security representative at internal meetings as requested.
- Prepare secure workspaces and documentation per program needs.
- Participates in the design, testing and implementation of new IT security initiatives.
- Keep informed of current or emerging threats and mitigation techniques as they apply to Internews and share this information with the IT team.
- Understand and demonstrate commitment to upholding Internews’ Core Values.
- Support the roll-out of information security initiatives set forth by Technology Solutions and Services.
- Adheres to and reinforces all departmental internal and user facing security policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re seeking candidates who bring strong technical competencies to the team, along with a collaborative attitude and empathy-driven security mindset. We are seeking a team member who excels at balancing their daily responsibilities with longer-term project work. The successful candidate has a strong interest in information security and technology broadly with a willingness to grow and learn.
- Experience working on information security projects and working in environments with a wide array of stakeholders and skillsets. 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience, including project coordination and support.
- Excellent communication skills are critical to this role, as well as the ability to effectively communicate technical subject matter to non-technical audiences.
- Timely and detailed internal communications.
- A keen interest in information security best practices, standard frameworks and end user training.
- Must have excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment, across different time zones.
- Strong reputation for developing excellent collaborative working relationships with colleagues in a variety of departments and fields.
- Have a track record of success delivering quality results with an empathy-driven security mindset.
- Dependable team member who has the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
