ARCS is a non-governmental and non-profit organization. It was founded in 1985 in Rome by ARCI, an important national network of the Italian third sector for social and cultural promotion. ARCS promotes social change and active citizenship through education in global citizenship, peace as well as intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, in the practice of solidarity and cooperation both in Italy and in the world. It has been active in Jordan since 2012, with projects centered around livelihood and protection sectors targeting both local and refugee populations fostering entrepreneurship, active citizenship and inclusion, with particular emphasis on the needs of youth and PwDs.

About PASS:
PASS initiative targets the Christian Iraqi minority in Amman, Balqa, and Madaba, focusing on Iraqi Christian refugees facing extreme vulnerability due to work permit restrictions. The project aims to promote social protection, economic inclusion, access to services, justice, and peaceful coexistence between Iraqi refugees and Jordanian host communities. As part of the PASS project, ARCS is implementing social inclusion activities targeting youth. These activities aim to foster engagement, inclusion, and peer exchange among young people from diverse backgrounds. Participant groups will include young Iraqis alongside peers of other nationalities, with particular attention to ensuring the inclusion of individuals with disabilities.

Job overview:

the Youth Program Assistants will play a key role in ensuring the safe transportation of participants, their supervision and well-being during sessions, and the appropriate accommodation and support of participants with disabilities, in the period between June and August 2025.

The Youth Program Assistants will be responsible for accompanying the groups during transport to and from the workshops locations, coordinating with parents/guardians at collection points, and providing supervision and support on-site during the activity.

In the case of participants with special needs, the Youth Program Assistants may be assigned to assist a single participant, if required. The Youth Program Assistants will work individually, alternating based on weekly needs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Accompany minors and youth during transport
    • Supervise participants during transport to/from workshops. Ensure all are picked up and returned safely.
    • Maintain attendance records and ensure no participant is left behind or unaccounted for.
  • Ensure safety and well-being
    • Monitor the general safety of participants during transport and on-site.
    • Assist with basic needs and support the needs of minors and adolescents with disabilities.
  • Coordinate with parents and staff
    • Communicate with guardians at drop-off/pickup. Coordinate with staff to ensure smooth activity flow.
  • Respond to Incidents and Emergencies
    • Stay alert and act promptly in case of emergencies.
    • Report any incidents to the program coordinator and follow safety procedures as needed.
  • Reporting and documentation:
    • Submit signed daily attendance sheets. Collect consent signed by all participants.
    • Provide weekly summaries with session details, incidents, behavior notes, and staff communication.
    • Submit a final 2-page report within 5 days, covering activities, engagement, recommendations, and any remaining concerns.

Position profile:

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated with a degree in education, psychology, child development or related fields
  • Experience working with children or youth, informal education, summer camps, recreational and extracurricular activities settings.
  • Ability to manage groups of children and respond appropriately to basic safety and basic needs.
  • A thorough understanding of the specific needs of the target group and cultural sensitivity to ensure effective communication with both participants and guardians.
  • Experience in field activities, trips, or logistics is a plus, preferably in local charities and NGOs;
  • Arabic mother tongue. Good working knowledge of English is a plus;
  • Calm under pressure and solution-oriented.
  • First aid certification is a strong plus.
