The escalation of conflict in Ukraine has forced more than 5 million people – mostly women and children – to flee to neighbouring countries. With the escalating crisis, the needs are growing by the hour. More than half of Ukraine’s children have either fled for safety within the country or are living as refugees.
Since the conflict started, our teams have been on the ground assessing and responding to the urgent needs of those searching for safety. We are currently scaling up our multi-country response across three countries (Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine) and are recruiting for many key positions that will make a direct impact on the lives of people who have been caught up in conflict.
Here’s where you come in:
As the Security Director for the Ukraine Crisis Response (UCR), you will provide overall leadership, management, and oversight of World Vision (WV) security staff, systems and resources in regard to the Response Office operational objectives. You will ensure the proactive assessments of security risks and the implementation of mitigation measures that allow World Vision to deliver aid in ‘medium – high risk’ Fragile, Complex areas while maximising staff safety.
You will ensure that World Vision’s Ukraine Multi-Country Response (UMCR) Operational locations; Poland, Romania, and Moldova manage security risks in alignment with World Vision security Policy and Standards and that critical security incidents are responded to appropriately.

Requirements Include:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Risk Management, Strategic Studies, International Relations or Emergency Management. (General Management studies also considered);
- 5+ yrs in a relevant security management role in NGO, Private or Govt Sectors.
- Previous experience in the professional security arena (INGO, Corporate, Military, Law Enforcement, or Emergency Services).
- Sound knowledge of INGO security practices with proven experience in Security Risk Assessments (SRA), security planning and crises management in the humanitarian context.
- The position requires ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 33% of the time.
- Must be prepared to travel to ‘high risk’ security environments at short notice.
