The Regional Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPHA) Specialist will lead
and provide strategic guidance on child protection initiatives in
emergency situations in Latin American and Caribbean countries. This role focuses
on improving the quality and impact of CPHA programming through technical support,
coordination with local and international stakeholders, humanitarian advocacy
for children’s rights in crisis situations, and strategic leadership in
emergency response within the Americas region.
This role is critical to Plan’s ability to influence as a humanitarian organization, strengthen
our humanitarian profile, connect with humanitarian peers, and mobilize support to better meet
the needs of children affected by crises in the Americas.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, International Development, or a
related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Child Protection in
humanitarian action, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
• Demonstrated experience in program development, team management, and
capacity building in diverse and complex environments. • Experience in humanitarian or advocacy
-related affairs. • In-depth understanding of the humanitarian landscape and child protection standards in the U.S. context. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English. Basic French is required.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND REQUIREMENTS:
• The position may be based in any of the countries, with frequent travel to
program locations and other countries in the region
, and possibly outside the region if requested by the Regional Head of
Humanitarian Preparedness and Response.
• The position will involve working from home when not traveling to the offices.
• Anticipated travel requirements: 60%.
