The Lutheran World Federation works in 25 countries, carrying out emergency response and long-term development that assists 2.7 million people. Current emergency operations include the South Sudan and DRC refugee crises, Central African Republic, Nigeria, and Myanmar. Long term projects run in Jerusalem, Nepal, Haiti and Colombia.
The LWF stands alongside local and international partners, helping communities achieve their full potential and advocating for their universal rights. People in need are assisted irrespective of their ethnicity, gender, religion, race, or political conviction.
Partners include Lutheran churches, the European Commission (ECHO), the US Government (BPRM) and UNHCR, with whom we are a key implementing partner. LWF has been a UNHCR partner since its inception and remains its largest faith-based partner.
The Lutheran World Federation is a global communion of 148 churches in the Lutheran tradition, representing over 75.5 million Christians in 99 countries.
