Job Title: Nutrition Project Officer
Location: Amman, Jordan
Reports to: Regional Program Manager

Gross Salary: 1600 USD / Monthly
Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

The Nutrition Officer will support the design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of nutrition projects in Jordan and Gaza. The role involves technical oversight, coordination with field teams, donor reporting, and active participation in local and regional nutrition forums. The Nutrition Officer must demonstrate a strong understanding of WHO and UNICEF nutrition protocols and ensure that all activities adhere to international standards and donor requirements.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Technical Implementation and Oversight

  • Support the implementation of nutrition interventions across project sites, including community-based and facility-based services.
  • Ensure alignment with WHO/UNICEF nutrition protocols and Sphere standards.
  • Guide the correct use and differentiation of nutrition inputs (e.g., therapeutic nutrition kits, medical supplies, supplements, RUTF/RUIF).
  • Monitor and support Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) activities and other preventative measures.

2. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Develop and update tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting in line with donor requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal stakeholders and donors
  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to improve program quality and visibility.
  • Conduct regular field visits for monitoring and supervision.

3. Coordination and Representation

  • Represent the organization in national and regional nutrition working groups, sub-working groups, and technical task forces in both Jordan and Gaza.
  • Liaise and maintain productive relationships with relevant stakeholders, including UNICEF, WHO, WFP, local ministries, and implementing partners.
  • Support internal coordination between program, logistics, and MEAL teams.
  • Participate in cluster/sector coordination meetings and ensure the organization’s contributions are well represented.

4. Supply and Procurement Support

  • Differentiate between types of nutrition-related items and support correct procurement and supply chain processes:
    • Nutrition kits (e.g., SAM treatment kits, IYCF-E kits)
    • Therapeutic supplies (F75, F100, RUTF, RUIF)
    • Micronutrient powders and supplements
    • Medical kits for malnourished children with complications
  • Coordinate closely with supply and logistics teams to avoid stock-outs and ensure timely delivery.

5. Donor Engagement and Proposal Support

  • Support the development of concept notes, proposals, and budgets for nutrition-related projects.
  • Ensure that project designs meet donor and global standards and reflect field realities.
  • Contribute to donor meetings and field visits, providing technical briefings as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in nutrition programming, ideally in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Previous work experience with UN agencies, WHO, USAID, ECHO, or other international donors.
  • Strong familiarity with global nutrition standards and tools (e.g., WHO growth standards, CMAM, SMART, IYCF-E).
  • Experience in both emergency and development nutrition settings is preferred.
  • Proven ability to write technical reports and contribute to donor proposals.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills; ability to work with diverse teams in complex environments.
  • Arabic and English fluency required (written and spoken).

Preferred Skills and Attributes

  • Understanding of political and humanitarian context in Gaza and Jordan.
  • Experience in training health workers or community volunteers.
  • Knowledge of local regulatory frameworks for nutrition programming in Jordan and/or Gaza.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian response monitoring systems like 3W/5W and cluster reporting mechanisms.
