Translation and Interpreter At International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies

BACKGROUND

The Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM Bari) is implementing the program
Pro.UKR, in Odesa, Ukraine, which is funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
International Cooperation through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
The initiative is implementing the program in collaboration with the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian
Policy and Food, and with the Odesa Regional State Administration.
The initiatives aim to support the Governments of Ukraine to increase its capacities to develop the
agri-food industry, to diversify the agriculture markets, and to develop the associationism among
small agriculture producers. In addition, the initiative aims to accompany the Government in
achieving the EU Aquis for the specific sectors.

1. KEY FUNCTIONS
The Interpreter will work closely with the Project Manager and project staff to:

  • Provide oral interpretation (Ukrainian ↔ English) for expatriate staff in meetings with beneficiaries, local authorities, and partners;
  • Support the Project Management Unit during training sessions and field visits by facilitating verbal communication between international experts and local stakeholders;
  • Attend and interpret during weekly and monthly staff meetings;
  • Ensure accurate and context-appropriate interpretation in both formal and informal settings;
  • Comply with CIHEAM Bari’s operational and safety procedures;
  • Perform other interpretation-related tasks as requested by CIHEAM Bari, in line with the role;

2. Requirements
Essential:

  • University degree in Foreign Languages (including English), or equivalent proven experience as interpreter;
  • Ukrainian citizen currently residing in Odesa Oblast;
  • Fluent in English (C1 level required) and Ukrainian (native or equivalent);
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
