Localization and Partnership Specialist At Save the Children

The role

Save the Children is increasingly committed to advancing its approach to localization & locally-led development with priorities to increase funding and capacity sharing of local partners. While localization began as a humanitarian initiative, it overlaps with concepts of local ownership and locally-led development and is now being embraced across the spectrum of Save’s programmatic and strategic efforts. The Localization and Partnership Specialist will engage in dialogue with national and international partners with the aim to support the development and operationalization of their capacity development strategy. The Specialist will further facilitate networking and exchange between partners across the thematic areas and countries. He/ She will follow the discourse on localization and provide relevant analysis and inputs as required to support the localization focus. The Specialist will also provide coaching or facilitate trainings for partners as required.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Qualifications and experience

  • Relevant university degree in social sciences, development studies, organizational development or other related discipline. A post-graduate qualification will be positively considered;
  • The ideal candidate will be strongly motivated with initiative and willingness to contribute to an innovative programme;
  • At least 5 years’ experience in developing and managing partnerships for a donor/UN/NGO;
  • Experience developing organizational capacity development strategies for national actors, providing mentoring and training support;
  • Knowledge of the region and donor requirements is preferred;
  • Experience of building, leading and developing a team of senior staff with different backgrounds and expertise;
  • Skills and experience in programme monitoring review, reporting and evaluation;
  • Strong skills in people management, moderation, conflict resolution and capacity-building;
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to think and plan strategically;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English;
  • Good computer literacy and mains MS software;
  • Ability to work with limited supervision;
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children aims, values and principles.

Contract length: 12 months
