The Opportunity

Save the Children implements the USAID funded Literate Village program. The LV Goal is “women, specially mothers, and primary school aged children in targeted villages possess the necessary literacy skills for continuous learning and self-improvement”. Results: Quality of reading instruction for rural primary school aged children increased; and rural mothers’ ability to contribute to their children’s primary education increased. The EdTech specialist will Lead a strategic process with MOE, education agencies and other entities to develop an EdTech model for community education in particular for Arabic Language teaching and learning. Provide technical leadership and expertise to LV technical teams in target governorates on: EdTech of community school model. This includes exploring and assessing the available EdTech resources that could support community education and developing new tools and approaches that responding to the specific needs of community schools and MOE strategic direction in that regard. Partnerships with central-level governmental and non-governmental key players who could make opportunities available to facilitators of community schools that supported by LV. S/he is responsible and accountable to develop sound technical guides, training material, and tools

S/he delivers training, technical assistance, and coaching to the central and governorate level MOE staff and LV teams at SCI, and Partner NGO/CDA levels. S/he is responsible for providing technical leadership and support to the governorate-based technical teams on designing and implementing of quality and sustainable activities for integration of EdTech in community schools

The LV EdTech specialist reports to the LV Technical Support Manager and works closely with SCUS technical advisor, LV MEAL specialists and governorate-based EdTech and community education technical teams.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Advanced degree in EdTech; MA in Education or an equivalent combination of experience and expertise is essential. PHD is preferable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience working on Education instruction, assessment and training, preferably in Egypt; including 5 year in EdTech.
  • Experience in teacher training, reading instruction and assessment, and material development
  • Excellent English language speaking and writing skills.
  • Effective Arabic communication skills, both orally and in writing to make formal and informal presentations and to compose professional and analytic reports and program documents;
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • Previous experience of providing coaching and technical assistance.
  • Excellent training, facilitation and communication skills

Desirable

  • Has previous work experience with USAID education programs.
  • Excellent knowledge of the education policies in Egypt and new strategic direction of 2.0.
  • Previous experience in designing and implementing of EdTech activities with primary aged children.
  • Previous experience in development of analytical report and policy documents related to Education.
  • Ability to meet ambitious deadlines with quality deliverables
