Confirmed Expert In Bottleneck/Conflict Analysis At International Development Corporation

International Development Company, a Research & Development firm, is looking for experts with the following profiles for a project in Niger.

PC3- Confirmed expert in bottleneck/conflict analysis

Qualifications and skills

  1. Have a university degree BAC + 4 in conflict management, political or social sciences
  2. Have previously conducted conflict analyses or served in mediation mechanisms;
  3. Have strong analytical and synthesis skills;
  4. Have a good knowledge of local dynamics in Niger and in the program intervention area.

Mission objectives

The objective of this study is to establish a coherent baseline aimed at determining the reference situation in terms of access to water, hygiene and sanitation in the intervention areas of the two projects.

Specifically, this involves:

  • Conduct a quantitative survey to establish the baseline situation of indicators in the project intervention areas, including household characteristics and their level of vulnerability
  • Conduct a qualitative analysis on women’s participation in WASH decisions, menstrual hygiene management (practices, preferences, market), water-related conflicts, and perception of climate change and its impacts on health and WASH services

Description of tasks and deliverables

The requested services include the following activities

  1. ï‚· Activity 1: Document Review: A review of relevant documents for which UNICEF will provide the research office with some of the required documents.
  2. ï‚· Activity 2: Development/appropriation of the survey protocol:
    1.  Refinement of the methodological note for conducting the mission, including sampling
    2.  The methodology, data collection tools, training manual, operational manual will be developed by the design office.
    3.  Survey questionnaires in consultation with UNICEF Niger and its partners.
    4.  Quality control plan.
  3. ï‚· Activity 3: Training of surveyors and pre-assessment: Train field supervisors and surveyors on basic WASH issues,
  4. ï‚· Activity 4: Pre-test the data collection tools and data entry program through a pilot phase, make necessary changes to the questionnaires, and organize post-test information meetings for the investigators and supervisors.
  5. ï‚· Activity 5: Water quality tests: Organize water quality tests according to UNICEF requirements, namely, bacteriological test and physicochemical test at water supply facilities and households. The required equipment should be provided by the selected office, and the people dedicated to this task should be trained.
  6. ï‚· Activity 6: Data collection and entry:
    1.  Organize data collection using tablets/smartphones. Prepare, lead and supervise data collection in the field in coordination with UNICEF, government and local authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
    2.  Ensure quality control during data collection and entry by reviewing completed questionnaires, data cleaning and feedback provided to field teams and managers.
  7. ï‚· Activity 7: Drafting and preparation of the preliminary report: a preliminary report describing the results of the study will be drafted and submitted to UNICEF for review.
  8. ï‚· Activity 8: Preparation of the final report: Based on UNICEF’s review of the interim report, finalize and submit the final report with all annexes.
