POSITION SUMMARY:
The Training Manager will be responsible for leading training and mentoring activities on media that support program activities and objectives of the USAID Sustainable Independent Media Activity (SIMA) project located in South Sudan. Training is delivered on either a remote or face-to-face basis, travel may be needed. The Training Manager will be responsible for assisting the Chief of Party in the detailed planning and oversight of all aspects of training activities across a series of media partners in editorial, multimedia, and gender issues. This is an important role requiring strong organizational and communication skills, and experience of successful and impactful training delivery.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop calendar of training and consulting events and other similar activities.
Communicate with international and local trainers and consultants and assist them in planning training and consulting events and other similar activities.
Plan internal travel and accommodation of international consultants in coordination with Chief of Party and other senior staff
Select appropriate facilities/venues for training and consulting events and other similar activities and prepare them according to specific needs and requirements (ensure relevant space lay-out, resolve technical issues in coordination with Chief of Party);
Conduct small-scale research on local conditions to assist international and local trainers and consultants in adjusting their training and consulting plans to local needs.
Assist international and local trainers and consultants in preparation of training materials
Ensure live streaming of training events when needed in coordination with IT Manager.
Handle all logistical aspects of training or consulting events including but not limited to development of training announcements, publicizing training and consulting opportunities, selection of participants and recipients on a competitive basis, and arranging travel and accommodation for participants.
Coordinate communication between training and consulting providers and recipients and monitor recipient progress.
Collect and evaluate training and consulting reports.
Input data on training participants and other recipients of training and consulting activities in internal tracking system;
Project cost of each training and consulting event in coordination with Grants & Finance Officer
Administer evaluation reports to participants of training and consulting activities, collect and analyze them;
Provide data and narrative for inclusion in monthly progress reports to USAID;
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Legal resident of South Sudan with Authorization to Work.
Excellent written and verbal English language skills, required
Previous experience in organizing training activities required.
Proficient computer literacy required;
Excellent communication skills required;
Pro-active with strong problem‐solving skills, required
Well organized with strong planning skills required;
University degree in international development, media related studies, preferred.
At least three (5) years’ experience with international organizations preferred.
