About the position The Project Officer will support the work of the Area Programme Manager in providing support to MBHTE’s Curriculum, Learning and Delivery in particular Basis Education (Kinder to Grade3). The post is expected to assist in the delivery of activities targeted towards building and strengthening the capacity of MBHTE – BARMM, community leaders, and other stakeholders in the assigned AOR to:
- Provide a “balanced” K-3 curriculum appropriate to the needs, circumstances and diverse social, ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds in BARMM
In addition, the Project Officer will support the effective integration of critical cross-cutting issues including Islamic Relief’s policy on gender justice, social inclusion and peace building and work on building community support to education and curriculum contextualization and adaptation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in preparing quality activity designs of activities and projects that are linked to the program goals, end-of-program outcomes, and approved annual plan of the project;
- Support in organising activities, which may include coordination and liaising with program partners and stakeholders, technical support in managing the day-to-day operations of activities/program, documentation of the proceedings, budgeting, and drafting of activity accomplishment reports;
- Support the MEAL team in its monitoring activities, which may include providing technical support and organizing surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and gathering of data and information;
- Provide support in building the capacity of stakeholders in the areas of curriculum, learning, and delivery, teacher development and monitoring and evaluation;
- Provide support to the drafting of annual work plan and six-monthly progress report;
- Provide support in conducting the Quarterly Project Reviews, reflection and knowledge sharing sessions;
- Gradually take on leadership within technical areas of IR’s programming;
- Extend support to other technical areas such as institutional strengthening, policy, planning, and madaris education; and
- Other duties as may reasonably be required by the Area Programme Manager consistent with the incumbent’s qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications:
The Program Officer should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (desirable);
- Strong working experience (at least 3 years) in the areas of institutional capacity development and stakeholders organizing of an educational development project, preferably significant experience with early grades education (K-3) in Mindanao;
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the education sector and the Mindanao contexts;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and has ability to work effectively with others in a cross-cultural and fragile environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Tagalog; Proficiency in local languages in the Bangsamoro Region is an advantage;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Office; and
- Excellent coordination, liaising, and events organizing skills;
