DRC Greece is looking to recruit a qualified, flexible and enthusiastic professional to work in North Greece as an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Skills Development Officer. Under the overall supervision of the Education/Integration Manager and with the technical guidance from Education Coordinator and Urban/Integration Coordinator, the ICT Skills Development Officer will support the implementation of Skills Development and Employability activities and services for migrant and refugee adults accommodated in Open Accommodation site(s) in North Greece. The ICT Skills Development Officer will ensure that all Skills Development activities are of high quality and in line with People of Concerns’ (PoC) needs.

The ICT Skills Development Officer responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

Implementation and design of Skills Development activities

  • Conduct computer classes, ICT lessons and skills-building sessions and support with the delivery of vocation training by external providers.
  • Form class groups and develop schedules in line with the needs of site population and in agreement with the Education/Integration Manager.
  • Complete daily lesson plans and develop differentiated learning material based on educational level and the individual needs of beneficiaries.
  • Plan and implement effective group management practices to develop independent learners’ ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • In collaboration with the Employability Support Officer, create targeted and customized curricula that target and address the skills development, lifelong learning, and employability support needs of adult beneficiaries on sites.
  • Provide support and advice on education-related ICT equipment and software where applicable.
  • Provide support and advice on DRC’s Skills Development and Employability website.
  • Contribute to data collection tools, market and labor market assessments and mapping reports.
  • In collaboration with DRC Employability Support Officer and other staff members, provide information on available job vacancies and support beneficiaries to apply.
  • In collaboration with DRC Employability Support Officer and other staff members, provide information and guidance the beneficiaries on key knowledge areas, including Job search techniques and strategies.
  • Plan and support the distribution of learning material.
  • Support in the selection and evaluation of training providers for vocational training.
  • Support the integration of adapted approaches to respond to barriers to women and youth’s engagement in the labor market.
  • In collaboration with DRC Greece’s Protection team, facilitate inclusive access of asylum seekers to e-services provided by local authorities for all necessary administrative processes.
  • Map and provide information to PoCs on available learning opportunities (both on-site and off-site), liaise with municipalities’ lifelong learning centers, and other non-formal and formal education structures and assist PoC with all the necessary processes to access them, including the issuance of administrative documents.
  • Identify beneficiaries with good teaching skills and support them in organizing peer learning groups, non-formal learning activities and community-based teaching initiatives.
  • Organize meaningful activities aiming to restore resilience and promote self-reliance and accountability.
  • Collaborate with Education/Integration Manager, Employability Support Officer, and other staff members to identify new partnerships with the private sector for the provision of training and Work-Based Learning (WBL) opportunities.
  • Promote empathy, compassion and respect for the gender, ethnic, religious, cultural, and learning diversity of PoC.

Reporting and Education Information Management

  • Ensure that relevant project data and Means of Verification (e.g., attendance lists, registration forms, lesson plans) are accurately collected.
  • Monitor and record beneficiaries’ attendance and progression, noting any areas for concern to the Education/Integration Manager.
  • Regularly monitor the progress of Skills Development & Employability activities against project plans and timelines.

Program Development

  • Suggest improvements to DRC programming and ways of working, through identification and communication of challenges, gaps, recommendations for improvements and lessons learnt.
  • In collaboration with the Skills Development & Employability team and the Education/Integration Manager contribute to the development and design of DRC’s Skills Development & Employability program and activities.

Accountability

  • In day-to-day tasks ensure relevant accountability to internal DRC and Donor policies
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Education-Integration Manager and/or Area Manager relevant to the achievement of program’s objectives.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the line manager in line with overall response in the area of deployment.

About you

Required:

  • BA in computer science, information technology or in a related field, and at least 1 years of proofed professional experience in teaching ICT or computer science in group/class settings, OR
  • Certificate from accredited educational institution in computer science, information technology or in a related field and 2 years of experience in teaching ICT or computer science in group/class settings.
  • Advanced verbal and written skills of English Language
  • Excellent verbal and written skills of Greek Language
  • Proven professional experience in teaching ICT or computer science in group/class settings.
  • Experience in Adult Education and/or Intercultural Education, in designing and facilitating skills development workshops and training sessions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Keen sense of initiative and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to humanitarian principles.
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn from others.
  • Ability to multitask and cope with multiple competing demands under tight deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Certified training or courses on career/job counselling or livelihood planning will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in teaching Greek or English as a foreign language in group/class settings will be considered an asset.
  • Prior teaching experience with non-Greek speaking students will be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with local or international NGOs will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the refugee and migration issues in Greece, the systems, and processes in place to facilitate refugees’ access to services, education, health care, and social benefits will be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in implementation of economic recovery program, including vocational training and work-based learning (WBL) will be considered an asset.
