As a Grants Expert, reporting directly to the Institutional Funding Officer, you will support PUI in identifying funding opportunities, understanding donor rules and requirements, applying them to PUI’s interventions, and prospecting for new donors relevant to PUI. You will also work with other departments at PUI headquarters to contribute to the development of innovative programmatic approaches and may be asked to coordinate or participate in the development of multi-country or global thematic project proposals.
For this purpose, your responsibilities will be as follows:
Strengthen PUI’s expertise on institutional donors (contractual requirements, compliance, project management) and provide technical support to operational teams (headquarters and field, in particular by setting up and leading a professional/practice community) on donor requirements.
Participate in and support the prospecting and development of new institutional financial partnerships for PUI.
Contribute to the development of innovative programmatic approaches at Première Urgence Internationale in conjunction with other head office departments.
Coordinate and/or participate in the drafting of multi-country or thematic project proposals.
Participate in the representation of PUI in inter-NGO coordination forums on financing mechanisms (CSUD, VOICE, CONCORD,…).

Participate in redefining roles and responsibilities between PUI headquarters and field offices regarding Grants & Reporting functions; improve the technical knowledge (rules, donor requirements and their application) of institutional donors among PUI teams (headquarters and field offices); lead and strengthen the PUI “Grants” professional community and develop its skills (training, sharing of best practices, etc.); contribute to the prospecting of funding and new institutional donors (monitoring funding opportunities, mapping and analyzing new donors for PUI), in support of the Institutional Partnerships Officer
What you will need to succeed
Formation
You can provide proof of a higher degree (Master 2 or equivalent) in a relevant field: international relations, humanitarian action, international development, social sciences.
Experience
You have over 5 years of experience in managing funding for institutional humanitarian and development donors, preferably in senior coordination roles in grant management, project development, and business development, including developing funding strategies, coordinating and drafting project proposals, and monitoring compliance with contractual requirements during project implementation. You are experienced in external representation with institutional donors and in developing innovative programmatic approaches.
SKILLS
You possess proven expertise with current PUI institutional donors (US funding, DG ECHO, NDICI, CDCS, AFD, UN, SIDA) and PUI prospects: SDC, FCDO; leadership skills and decision-making ability.
Required qualities
You possess strong analytical (discernment, pragmatism) and synthesis skills, and the ability to see the big picture in your areas of expertise. You are flexible, organized, rigorous, and respectful of deadlines. You have excellent listening and negotiation skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with and adapt to a variety of stakeholders. You remain calm and collected. Finally, you have a strong ability to prioritize and adapt to changing circumstances.
