Founded in 2002, TRIAL International is a non-governmental organization that fights impunity for international crimes and supports victims in their pursuit of justice. The organization provides legal assistance, conducts investigations, takes legal action, builds the capacity of local actors, and advocates for human rights.
In addition to its headquarters in Geneva, TRIAL International has offices in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Bosnia and Herzegovina and conducts field missions worldwide. With an annual budget of over CHF 4 million, the organization receives diversified funding from public donors, private foundations, international organizations, and individual contributions.
To ensure business continuity and support the organization’s development, we are seeking a Grant Monitoring and Reporting Officer for a fixed term.
This position, with varied responsibilities, aims to ensure rigorous, transparent and compliant management of financial resources during the period of absence of the incumbents, while contributing to maintaining the efficiency and quality of grant monitoring.
YOUR MISSION
- Ensure the monitoring and analysis of program data, in close collaboration with operational teams. Organize the regular collection, analysis, and monitoring of indicators (quantitative and qualitative), targets, and verification methods. Ensure compliance with contractual frameworks and expectations related to funding, contribute to the consolidation and periodic analysis of collected data, in order to support decision-making and promote continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the preparation, review, and submission of narrative and financial reports , in accordance with donor requirements and ensuring a high standard of quality. Ensure consistency between contractual commitments and the operational implementation of projects, identifying any significant discrepancies and preparing the necessary justifications. Where appropriate, anticipate and support the formulation of requests for contractual or budgetary amendments, should the evolving nature of the activities require it.
- In coordination with the Donor Relations Officer, strengthen the management and development of the grant portfolio. Support the drafting of new funding proposals , including the preparation of logical frameworks, due diligence assessments, and any other required documentation. Contribute to the quality and consistency of proposals by ensuring their alignment with the organization’s strategic priorities and operational feasibility.
YOUR PROFILE
- Holder of a postgraduate degree (Master’s or equivalent) in human rights, law, international relations, political science, development, project management or any other relevant field.
- Proven experience of 3 to 5 years in grant management, reporting, project management or monitoring and evaluation (M&E) roles within an international NGO, a UN agency or a donor.
- Ability to ensure smooth and high-quality management of relationships with institutional donors , including the drafting of funding proposals, contract management, and the production of narrative and financial reports.
- Solid experience in managing grants funded by the European Union and other institutional donors is a major asset, as is in-depth knowledge of the landscape of philanthropic foundations working for human rights.
- Comfortable working with numbers and proficient in Excel (advanced formulas and database structuring).
- Excellent writing skills in French and English , with particular ease in institutional written communication and the synthesis of complex data.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
- Discretion, respect for confidentiality and reserve necessary for the performance of the function.
- Proven ability to manage unforeseen events and multiple deadlines.
