People in Need is calling for applications for the position of a Junior Project Coordinator within East European Program of the Centre for Human rights and Democracy (HRD), with the focus on the capacity building of journalists in Moldova. The primary goal of People in Need’s Centre for Human Rights and Democracy is to support independent individuals and groups in countries with repressive regimes who are the target of persecution, harassment, or arrests because of their opinions or activities, and to strengthen civil society and independent media in countries that are going through a democratic transformation.
The East European Program is currently focusing on support of independent media and civil society in Eastern Partnership countries and countries of Central Asia. The main programmatic focus includes:
- Capacity building for civil society organisations and independent media as well as support for their activities
- Emergency direct aid and psychosocial support to politically persecuted individuals and their families
- International advocacy
Location: Chisinau Starting date: As soon as possible Type of contract: Working contract Duration: one year (with the possibility of an extension, depending on funding)
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating the logistics of particular program activities, focused on the capacity building of journalists in Moldova
- Administration of project documentation
- Coordinating and updating an on-line networking platform for project’s beneficiaries
- In cooperation with the Project Manager, organisation and implementation of the activities (training programs for journalists) in Moldova
- Cooperating with the Finance Manager on budgets for individual activities
- Regular communication with the participants of the project
- Regular communication with experts and trainers employed within the project
- Occasional coordination field visits to different parts of Moldova
SUITABLE CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:
- University degree
- Fluency in English, Romanian and Russian
- At least 6 month experience at national or international level in the area of civil society, human rights, media
- Relevant experience in media in Moldova is an advantage
- Good understanding of political issues and trends in Moldova
- Excellent organizational and communicational skills
- Ability to effectively manage time and handle multiple assignments
- Ability to work well under pressure and react quickly in emergency situations
- Reliability
- Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member
