Communication & Content Officer (f/m/d) – Donor Visibility

About Us

Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. In 2016, IRC Germany was founded and is involved in the areas of education, livelihoods, and safety and empowerment throughout Germany.

The Communications & Content Officer will lead on delivery of donor visibility commitments, creating and implementing communications plans from conception through to completion. They will project manage communications commitments for approx. 40 grants, support in coordinating content collection trips to IRC programmes and partners with dedicated photographers and videographers to create innovative content that showcases the impact of the IRC’s EU-funded work.

Major Responsibilities

  • Write communications proposals for bids for EU donor visibility, including creative concept, distribution tactics and budget planning
  • Collaborate with programme and grant teams – both at proposal and post-proposal stage to understand the scope of each grant, budget available, time frame and commitments
  • Plan content collection trips to the IRC’s EU-funded programmes to capture content in liaison with country teams, coordinating photographers/videographers on shoots and itineraries
  • Write concepts/ scripts/ storyboards for videos for the organizations’ channels and see them through post-production to the final product.
  • Collaborate with digital comms colleagues to publish IRC/Donor content on IRC channels, specifically on the IRC’s EU website and Twitter account
  • Collaborate with global media colleagues in various markets in writing press releases and spotting opportunities for external publication of EU funded content.
  • Research dedicated photographers/videographers and support on the procurement and hiring.
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with key internal and external collaborators and suppliers.

Your Profile

  • Degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent proven experience in communications.
  • English language skills at C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages . German and/or French language skills are of advantage.
  • Strong ability to think creatively and produce innovative content.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience of writing and editing materials to a high quality within tight time frame.
  • Design and video editing skills including using Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines, prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of social media and the digital world.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, providing support as required, and build and maintain excellent relationships across the organization.
  • Experience of video editing, basic graphic design.
