PROJECT OFFICER-DIGITALIZATION EXPERT-EQUITY II PROGRAM At Fairtrade Africa

ABOUT US

Established in 2005, Fairtrade Africa (FTA) is a member of Fairtrade International and the umbrella network organization representing Fairtrade-certified Producer Organizations in Africa and the Middle East. It has four (4) regional networks – Eastern & Central Africa; Southern Africa; West Africa; and the Middle East & North Africa. FTA currently represents 1,354,294 farmers and workers in 660 producer organizations spread across 28 countries in Africa and the Middle East by providing services to them that contribute to the improvement of their livelihoods.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Provide support services to Fairtrade cocoa producer cooperatives and beneficiaries of the Integrated Data Management project and provide ongoing feedback to the senior project manager as a digitalization expert.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management

  • Support the implementation of Equity2Program/IMS projects to assist producer organisations
  • Monitor operational activities and effectiveness of results and milestones of Equity 2 Program/IMS projects
  • Compile monthly updates and quarterly reports using FTA and project templates
  • Support and participate in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities
  • Support the development of project proposals

Technical Advisory and Support

Provide Guidelines and Setting Up an Internal Management System (IMS) to Producer Organisations:

  • Membership Data
  • Compliance Management
  • Allocation of Tasks and Responsibility among SPOs Members
  • Membership Agreements
  • Plan of Training and Support Activities
  • Farm Assessment
  • Farm improvement plan

Core Support

  • Act as a key point of contact for member and producer organization queries, ensuring that, issues are dealt with promptly and efficiently
  • Support SPOs in the implementation of IMS tools and activities as required
  • Advise on members’ perceptions and attitudes towards FTA and the NFOs and other stakeholders operating within the country.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

Qualifications

 A bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering is required

Experience and Knowledge

  • A minimum of 3 years of project management experience in a similar environment
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation and familiarity with the software will be an advantage.
  • Experience in delivering training to a range of audiences
  • Knowledge and understanding of Fairtrade standards
  • Thematic knowledge and expertise in FTA’s priority areas

  • Good command of spoken and written English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with individuals across multi-functional disciplines

  • Good organizational skills
  • Good training and facilitation skills
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • Ability to speak the local language
