1. GENERAL BACKGROUND
Thailand is a priority destination for TUI and a high-risk area for Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC). The project is implemented in Phang Nga province which is part of the Andaman Tourism Development Zones. With a large number dropping out of education after grade 9, local youth often lack the skills to fill vacancies, especially in the tourism sector.
The TUI Academy Thailand_ Protection and economic empowerment of youth in tourism in Thailand Project provides youth sustainable, decent economic opportunities, in TUI’’s direct sphere of influence (TUI Hotels & Resorts), via the TUI Academy approach. The project is initiated to increase capacity building for the youth group at risk. Plan International will be cooperating closely with Robinson Club resort in Khao Lak to offer training in vocational, life skills, English language in hospitality, as well as an internship course at the hotel with a chance at decent work at the Robinson resort (or other hotels). The project provides free-of-charge training courses to potential youths including daily allowances, medical insurance, etc. The target will be 150 (at least 140 graduating, as well as at least 120 in jobs) disadvantaged youth at risk of exploitation, who are currently unable to access formal, or decent employment due to a lack of skills and opportunities.
2. OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The objective of the assignment is to seek technical support for conducting training and developing the capacity of students who are disadvantaged youth (aged 18-24) in English communication for hospitality. The teacher will deliver training a three-month course within 60 hours in total. She or he will teach 3 hours per day, 3 days per week. She or he will prepare work plan development, plan lessons and activities, and develop teaching materials based on the content under the “Planning and Implementation Guidelines for Hospitality course “ developed by Plan International. Specifically, she/he will carry on promoting activities that encourage students to be able to speak English before they attend the internship course at the target hotels located in Khoa Lak, Phang Nga province.
3. SCOPE OF WORK:
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Task 1: Conduct a pre-test for students to ensure that the competencies are met with the curriculum content.
Task 2: Design a lesson plan for teaching the English course and a brief summary of the intended approach for conducting the assignment. Identify the most appropriate methodology for teaching.
Task 2: Develop training materials for teaching English
Task 3: Design means of evaluation, and summary report of the final evaluation
4. INSTITUTIONAL ARRANGEMENTS
The teacher will work under the supervision of Project Manager of the project.
DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT: 19 September 2022- 30 November 2022 (with a maximum of 36 working days)
5. DELIVERABLES
All the outputs/deliverables below need to be reviewed and certified by the Project manager prior to the payment being released.

6. QUALIFICATION
- At least Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in teaching, training in English
- At least 1-2 years of experience demonstrating knowledge of developing capacity-building relevant to hotel industries, and hotel management.
- Demonstrated experience working in managing the capacity building, and training, with government institutions, civil societies, academic institutions, private sector
- Excellent written communication skills in English
7. SCHEDULE OF PAYMENT
Along with the payment, the consultant will complete the deliverable and submit the following documents to the Project Manager or Project Officer.
