Founded in 2000, Free the Slaves (FTS) is a pioneer and leader in the global effort to eradicate slavery. Our mission is to liberate those in slavery and change the conditions that allow slavery to persist. Free the Slaves works at the grassroots level to empower vulnerable individuals and communities to achieve freedom from slavery and develop resistance to slavery. Job Description
Free the Slaves (FTS) is seeking a proactive and well-organized intern with excellent English skills to support the Latin America Program. This unpaid internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in donor proposal development, project follow-up, research, and digital communications, while learning about human trafficking and forced labor in Latin America.
The role is fully remote. It is ideal for someone who wants to build concrete experience in a highly professionalized and in-demand field.

Main Responsibilities
1. Funding proposal support
– Assist in identifying open calls.
– Summarize donor requirements.
– Draft short sections of proposals (context, activities, brief descriptions).
– Prepare simple annexes or tables.
– Organize files and documents.
2. Project follow-up support
– Organize inputs and materials from partners.
– Maintain updated documentation.
– Prepare short summaries, lists, and tracking tables.
3. Research and mapping
– Review reports and materials on trafficking and forced labor.
– Map organizations, networks, and initiatives in the region.
– Organize findings for proposals or reports.
4. Light support in communications & digital tools
– Draft short posts or texts (EN/ES).
– Upload or organize materials on LinkedIn, YouTube or internal platforms.
– Assist with simple tasks in Teams, SharePoint, Canva or similar tools.
5. Support during virtual fora or trainings (light and remote)
– Help organize materials or participant lists.
– Assist in preparing slides or documents.
– Support with chat moderation or note-taking during online sessions.
Required Qualifications
– Excellent English (C1–C2) and native-level Spanish.
– Demonstrated interest in human trafficking, forced labor, or migration.
– Strong writing and synthesis skills.
– Organized, responsible, and detail-oriented.
– Ability to work remotely and independently.
– Basic ability to use digital tools (Teams, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)
Desired
– Studies in International Relations, Social Sciences, Law, Latin American Studies, Communications, or related fields.
– Experience with writing, or digital content (not required).
– Interest in international cooperation and project management.
